should be just a simple case of adjusting the tracking

local fiat place i took my car to today told me they couldn't undo a certain bolt without destroying the whole steering column

so i'll be needing a new one in order to adjust the tracking

£280 to you guv!

does this sound right? sounds odd to me (i'm not technically minded though)

did you check tyre presures were even, did you swop wheels around front right to rear left and so on,thats most common cure for pulling to one side, tracking dont usally go out on its own.
why did you go to fiat for tracking most tyre places do it, check is free they only charge if it needs adjusting.

Eh, no, no and er no. Unless you have had a serious bump I cannot see why they need to remove the column to do the tracking.

i once had a car not fiat, took it to dealer for a service as i wanted the book stamped with a main dealer stamp, it was pulling to the left when it whent in and it came back the same, they were supposed to road test it so i asked why they had not corrected the problem, or atleast told me about it, there reply was that i needed 2 new tyres because one was slightly more worn than the other, lucky i new they were full of crap took it to tyre place got the front wheels balanced and swoped from one side to the other side, problem cured cost £5.

i was suffering same problem. Tracking sorted it and helped my tyre wear. I'm having my steering column shaft replaced on Thursday, and it's only costing £150
