Ok its a turbo specific one this... aragh my sandwich plate wont go on  well it will but i then cant get a oil filter on the end of it   car is in bits outside, even taken the rad off to aid fitting, just not going on :( any suggestions? pics coming :(

trying both a clio 16v filter and a ren 5 filter, ren 5 filter teeny bit shorter, but also teeny bit wider, and the 16v is, well the opposite :p

 think im going to have to live without oil cooler :(

edit: also tried it with the sandwich plate on and off (just the threaded bit to show roughly how far the sandwich plate will take it :()

just been out playing i reckon if i had a hybrid of the two filters, with the width of the smallest and the height of the shortest it'd go :( so may leave cinq in bits and go halfords tomorrow in mums car :p

just started peeing down with rain, and lightning  so its on hold for now, front bumper has gone back on and tools are away :( its the elbow from the turbo to the standard downpipe flange thats getting in the way, as well as that bolt which you can just about see on the other pics (small wide filter its catching on exhaust, tall thin filter its catching on that bolt)

if you could measure that gap, that'd be handy for me too. I totally forgot about needing a smaller oil filter, i was going to get my turbo exhaust mocked up, but that'd prove tricky with a standard oil filter on there! Looks like i'l have to do an oil change and bung another filter on there before i can get that done. (what filter u guys running btw?)

next time your engine has to come out rem to full flow it then you wont need a sandwhich plate

Mine's on a Renault Clio 1.4 16v filter, HOF 266 from Halfords. I had to cut 1/8" off the end of the sandwich plate to filter thread to get enough clearance to get it screwed on, but it's been ok for three oil changes since.

There's stil plenty of thread to screw the filter on, if you look in the filter there's only 1/4" of threaded section max in there anyway.

:yeahthat: right thats the one i've got its the taller but thinner one :p

Dont think i've any sharp enough hacksaw blades to cut the threaded section (nor a vice to put the threaded bit in  ) but this could be the solution to my problems :worship: :D

quite wet out *takes pic*
