Well Zoe's back on the road now, but still have a few things to sort out.

She had her HG done, as well as cambelt (and bearing), and the brake lines repaired.

She is running better, but the rad fan is still cuting in a little too often for my liking, and she's still running a little rough on idle.

I tried resetting the ecu (incase the garage had forgotten to do so), and for a couple of days it helped, but she's getting grumpy again and I guess I need ideas of what else to look for.

First thing on my list is the Idle control valve - from what I read these are prone to clogging up with crap especially after a hg failure, unfortunately I have no idea how to locate it :p

Other than that I had thought maybe new air filter - though I don't really see how that would help matters (if it might indeed help, could someone explain to me why?).

So - any thoughts?

You don't have an idle control valve as such, you have an IAV Stepper Motor and its VERY unlikely this is at fault. They are MUCH more reliable that the old idle valves. Unplug it and start the car..then you will see what a difference they make :D it sounds very interesting

It is on the TB....the plug at the rear of the TB with 4 or 5 wires...the opposite side of the throtte cable/butterfly mechanism.

The stepper actually moves the butterfly to achieve idle, rather than bleeding air past. Thats why it doesn't clog up.

Shame its had all this stuff done.....what were your prior symptoms....may help a diagnosing.

When does the fan cut in?

Its normal for it to cut in if you are stood a few mins after starting it, think you are worrying over nothing there, remember this is a sei and not your old cinq

With the problems youve had id be thankful its cutting in at all

tbh it's probably me being paranoid.
it seems to be cutting in once the engine is warm, especially when dropping to a crawl pace - just seems to do it rather a lot thats all :p

All sounds relatively normal to me (y)

When the red/green temp light comes on is when you start to worry! :p
