Snow Foam

Snow Foam

I never use snow foam as a base I always:

Pre-wash with hose.

Wash by hand (2bm).

Rinse with hose.

Go over the entire car on a high setting with pressure washer.

Allow time for excess water to drip from car a wait of between 10 - 15 mins.

Snow foam entire car (going bottom to top).

Wait for snow foam to dwell on the car again 10 - 15 mins.

Rinse off with pressure washer this time on a medium/soft setting (going top to bottom).

Allow car to drip dry somewhat before going over the car with a drying cloth.

Now I may be a little OTT but I use a different drying cloth for each panel. Then I use a high grade leather shamie, again one for each panel.

I do the same for polish and wax every panel different applicator/cloth.

After all of the above you should have a gleaming car in front of you. I am not saying the above method is right or correct but everytime I use the above method my car is gleaming. (y)

Kind Regards
Stephen

I can't leave the snow foam for any period of time because its not thick enough ! SJB1985 what brand do you use ? And how do I make the foam thicker ?

I have used and do use two brands of snow foam one is made by Autoglym and the other is made by Autobrite. I have a snow foam lance and I have never had a problem with the snow foam not being a good consistency that it sticks to the car.

I know Karcher do two snow foam attachments on one of them there is a mixture tap on it which goes from min to max. I use one of these with the aforementioned snow foams and I set it to the middle for a nice consistency.

Mine has a tap to control the consistency ! I'll try the middle setting!

Ordered some of the auto finish ultimate foam snow foam and I'll try that as well! Spent like well over 100 quid trying to get the perfect snow foam thickness and touches !

Sorry to hear that mate. I know some people also say the softness/hardness of water can effect the snow foam also. I havent had any problems with that. Try the mixture control using just a little bit of snow foam at different settings mate :D

Hate to say this bud but why are you snow foaming after you've washed the car????
The whole point of snow foam is to use it as a pre wash to release as much dirt off of the car as possible before you touch it.
Really your routine should be;
High pressure rinse
Snow foam
High pressure rinse
Wash (2bm)
Rinse
Dry.
Job done.
No need for chamois either, harsh on the paint!
One drying towel to mop excess water up then another to fully dry it!!

No problem mate the reason why I do it the way I do is because the snow foam I use has wax built into it.

For this reason I wash by hand with a very good shampoo after I use citrus pre wash.

In terms of the chamois they are genuine sheepskin mate they are not harming my paint work at all.

Then again I may still be wrong but most of you have seen the pics of my car and it is always very clean and shiney lol :D

My current process is as follows:

Snow foam
Rinse
Wash
Snow foam
Rinse
Wax with spray on wax
Wash again
Wax with super resin polish
Buff
Polish and Shine with super sealant by autoglym

So just to clarify in case anyone is confused (may be typing this for my own benefit LOL) @Sweex

Pre wash car with VP Citrus Pre Wash
Rinse car
Wash car by hand (2BM) currently using Meguiars Shampoo Plus.
Rinse car
Snow Foam - Autobrite Citrus Snow Foam Concentrate
Rinse car

[Note: I know I am doing the pre wash and shampooing separately and it would be easier to do it all at once with just the one foam but I like the results I get from how I do it. I am not suggesting this as the best method by any means I just think my OCD likes me to do I this way LOL]
@WillGP sorry to be going on at length mate :)

Snow foam is a gimmicky way of applying tfr. Any good tfr will foam up when sprayed through a lance. The benefit of spraying it through a low pressure sprayer though is that it saves time (snow foam is a b4s%@#d to rince off if it gets to foamy) and you use less hence saving product/saving money. This is what I was told (and shown to prove it) by one of the master technicians at autoglym. Not saying snow foam is a bad product for someone like me who is trying to set up my own valeting business snow foam is great for the customer to see but takes longer to remove so applying diluted tfr suits me better. It's what works for yourselves really what works for you might not work for a hundred other people but if you get the results you need then who cares. That's my opinion on the topic ;)

the tfr the local hand wash place use kills plastic headlights, does foam do the same?
