Insect Repellant Wash

Insect Repellant Wash

Any insect repellent will most likely be water soluble, so that's that ruled out.

A Caranuba wax based wax/polish should be the best for when you need to wipe off those black tarsus prints.

That's pretty much what I meant by water soluble. If concealed by the wax the repellent wouldn't work due to lack of exposure. If exposed to the insects any bit of moisture would most likely dissolve the repellent (condensation overnight etc.) and fly off as soon as the car is in motion (excuse the pun). So any organic-based repellent wouldn't stick.

Options:

Cover/garage the car.
Change the colour
Put up a decoy in the form of a fluorescent emitting source.

If you mix an bug and tar remover with shampoo it spoils the formula. The easiest way is to keep the car clean and waxed and then clean off bugs with warm water mixed with a little car shampoo - this is best done as soon as possible to avoid the bugs drying and sticking to the paintwork too much. At this time of the year I always wash my car at least once a week and this stops bugs staining and being too hard to get off - therefore I don't ever need to use a bug remover product.

Also always avoid cheap shampoo's and use a good quality product like Autoglym or any other good brand to maintain the wax seal.
