So, I had my 1.9 150hp Bravo booked in for a remap this morning at Derv Tech in Manchester, I was very excited I must say

So after a bit of set up getting car ready etc, he did a few initial runs, during them the engine light would come on during high revs, but then would turn off once revs dropped. 1 problem, the error code wasn't staying, so we couldn't scan it.
He managed to data log a run and we narrowed the problem down, overboosting, massively!
It was maxing out the 3bar map sensor with ease. So I've been told to get turbo removed, and get it cleaned, or if needed, a full rebuild, and some new injector seals, as they are a bit tappity, so he reckons new seals will be a good idea incase they decide to blow

Car is completely stock so I'm guessing previous owners haven't looked after it well and it's just gunked up.
Anyone else ever had anything like this?
Got to say, I'm glad I went to a place that does custom remaps and knows what they're doing, and not some crappy little shop that throws a generic map on and sends you on your way

Another possibility is that the turbo is fine and the map sensor is faulty
Could also be a sticking actuator that is supposed to regulate the pressure perhaps somebody with experience of this engine will be able to tell you where the turbo is on this car and engine to be able to check it

Another thing that can cause this is the EGR valve.

Our local taxi man drives a Mitsubishi Lancer 2.2 Diesel, he had it remapped and it started throwing up the engine management light when at high revs then it would go into limp mode until the engine was shut down and started back up.

It was only doing this after the remap, he had it custom mapped to 170hp... there not as tuneable stock compared to our engines :)

Anyhow, the fault codes where showing overboosting etc, it turned out to be is EGR.
He had it removed, cleaned out - refitted, its been fine ever since, however - he's after selling it now after riding shotgun in my 1.9 multijet (200hp), the look on his face when he was squished back into the seat was priceless :).

br,
Dan.

My turbo broke, got replaced, and the new one still didn't work right (I actually thought it also broke) -- all because of a faulty Lambda sensor (I've been told).

So check that one too.

Got my remap from the Link ECU guys + but also stage 2 to go with it (stock turbo). It's snappy but I'm thinking stage 3 to have fun at higher speeds too (garett turbo).

But be careful, most mechanics don't really know what they are doing, when it comes to the more intricate stuff. (my experience)

IF they don't dyno the car (even stage 1), run for your life.

chris3234 I replaced the map sensor a few weeks ago after getting an error code about a faulty sensor myself, so I can't see it being that. Actuator could be a good shout though
aurick86 it never got mapped, it's all still stock, was still doing initial runs to see what power it was at stock
dtimmins1985 I was going to have EGR deleted and blanked off during the map, but didn't happen obviously. Might have a go at removing/cleaning it first
youurayy I'll check lambda sensor, hopefully not though. This place uses dyno thankfully, and the guy definitely know's his engines etc, he seem'd to have decent knowledge of the JTD engine as well
