HI Folks,
I've been living with a fairly large(i.e loud) boost leak on my 1.6 Eco for quite a while now and finally got around to sorting it recently. The leak was on the rubber pipe between the inter cooler exit and the plastic air intake pipe. Anyways after finally fixing it the car is no longer squealing like a banshee every time I drive it! However it now seems to be very down on Torque/power, at least until I hit about 2500 revs, when it starts to go. Put the foot down at 1500 ish and nothing happens, which is particularly annoying on the motorway when trying to overtake a truck and the car wont move!
Any ideas what could be causing this?

I would think the ECU would have storred an error making the car run in limp mode.
I suggest clearing the errors, maybe resetting the adaptive parameters. After that a DPF cleaning, good highway run.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have any warning lights on so don't think there's any errors, but i'll check with a reader. I did have some errors and limp mode last year when the boost leak first appeared, got DPF errors, but it wouldn't even rev above 2.5k then in limp mode. This is different. No power/torque till 2.5 then feels fine from there on up the rev range.
I have no idea what the adaptive parameters you mention are, and i doubt i could do anything with them since i only have a basic OBD reader. And my DPF should be nice and clear clear since my commute is a 70 mile motorway round trip each day:)

Check egr valve is closing fully . If not closing fully you will have a silent boost leak into the exhaust giving the symptoms you describe.

Thanks, from some googling I had been thinking it might be something to do with the EGR valve. Cant seem to find a clear picture of where its located though to take it off, i'll keep looking :)
Cheers

The egr is at the back on the passenger side. If yours is the 105bhp version like mine its easier to take the throttle body off first. Also its worth removing the metal pipe that connects to the egr as on mine it was blocked with carbon

Did you ever fix this issue?

I am having the same issue. After fixing the boost leak, my turbo has not come back! I have also cleared all of the codes bar a dpf one that comes back.
