Hi Guys,

I have just 20,000 km on my FIAT Ritmo, with TMC and Ragazzon exhaust. When I started the car this morning I got 3 error messages.

1. ASR Disabled
2. Hill Holder Disabled
3. Check Engine

I brought my car to the garage and they said they deleted all the error codes on the computer and I took the chance to get my 20,000 km service done. The problem seems to have been resolved.

I was wondering however how these error codes would have occured?

I was also told due to having an aftermarket engine management system they will charge me from now on if this happens again, but I dont think anybody else who has installed a TMC kit has had this problem..

Any ideas???

Thanks

Alex

I have not had this problem with anyone. Did they not tell you what the fault code was? Did you start the engine with the box not connected to the wiring loom? The box or the adaptor must be plugged into the loom anytime the car is running, without one of them connected the signals between the ECU and sensors would be broken.

Otherwise without the garage telling you what the fault code they cleared was it's impossible to offer any advice.

Try to find out the error and let me know.

Search the forum. You're not the first. It's thought to be a brake or clutch switch adjustment problem.

In which case how can they refuse to clear the fault codes due to a tuning box being fitted? Makes me mad, they blame everything on the tuningbox, easy way out. Got a nail in your tyre mate, must be your tuning box has caused that:bang:

No they didnt give me any information regarding the error codes, I mentioned the brake and clutch switches but they just dismissed my advice and said if it happens again they will have to charge me for deleting the error codes as I have installed an aftermarket engine management system.. very frustrating

Also I have NEVER started the car without the loom being connected so couldnt be that..

I seriously doubt the problem has anything to do with the tuning box but as you say they always take the easy way out

Should take the box off before visiting the dealer, thats what I do everytime it go back for service. (y)
