The Bravo will be due it's 18k mile service sometime soon between now and Christmas (currently sitting at 16200 miles).

My question is will Fiat allow me to buy all the parts (filters etc) from them if I go down to my local dealer?

I used to do this with my previous Renault Laguna. I could just go into my local Renault dealer and buy the service kit off the shelf. Used to cost me about £30-£40 for the parts depending on what service was due to the Laguna.

My friend (mechanic) then done the service for me for £20 meaning I saved a bucket load on the cost of having the dealer service my car. He also has his own business (VAT reg) so can stamp the book to keep the warrenty in check and obviously is using original manufacturer parts.

Never done this though with my previous Punto as it was out of warrenty so never had to worry about warrenty's etc so don't know how Fiat work with buying service parts direct from them?

Just make sure he goes through the owners manual and writes you a recepit showing he's done everything on the service chart.

Is your friend going to be able to reset the 'service' counter?

Yeah he know's how to stick by the rules to keep the warrenty etc as it should be. He's been servicing my cars for years. i'd rather pay him £20 to do it than the £210 (What Renault wanted for the last service on my Laguna before I sold it) at a dealers for the same thing.

He can reset the service light also as he has done a Bravo a few weeks back that was put through it's first service also.

I mean make sure he writes on a worksheet things like:

*Checked cambelt for visual damage.
*Checked tyres for even wear.

etc etc

Looks better than just having a stamp in the book.

Yeah he does all that. He basically does the same as I would get taking it to a dealer except a load cheaper.

I've had warrenty claims on my other cars that I have owned and never had a single question regards who serviced the car etc as soon as I show all the paper work to prove it's been done.

Renault were very accomodating in this actually. They would give me a 'check sheet' that had what was required at each service and my friend had to do all the checks and sign off the forum. Wasn't a requirement of warrenty under Renault but said it was the forum their guys used and it would help me make sure everything was checked at it's proper service interval.

How did you get discount? through this site ?
this I presume this was including genuine parts for it not to void the warranty

How much do fiat charge by the way?

By having introduced about 10 extra customers to the garage, and having had 2 major services, a clutch change and an engine rebuilt by them. Lets say they've seen a decent percentage of my wages

All genuine Fiat parts, and they're about half the labour charge of FIAT. If you do go there say Rob with the Tipo and Bravo sent you.
