Technical remote key programming

i have a remote key which has never worked with my car, on getting my immobiliser code from fiat i also have some other codes including what is classed as remote code and is 8 digits long, is their anyway of getting this code into my remote key??

you need a 4 digit code for remote programming.

does the remote's led light flash? the most common problem is a flat battery or a broken switch. you can replace the battery and solder the switch back on.

hi mate i have managed to program a code into my remote which will set/disarm the alarm but will only unlock the doors and not lock them. i was being thick initially and it appears fiat gave me 2 sets of coses for the remote, is their a different press pattern on the remote to lock it as well or is it just playing up?>?

cheers - u really know ure stuff jug

how did you "program a code into your remote"

if your doors only lock and do not unlock with the remote then the problem definately isnt the remote. it is either the locking relay, or its circuit. do they all unlock if you use the key in a door lock, or only the door unlocks?

i entered the code via the button near the interior light
the problem i have is that i can lock it with a key but not the remote, whereas i can unlock it with the remote or the key - the alarm arms and disarms so is working fine

Nice guide jug but it doesn't work for me. This morning I put some stuff into the car and set the alarm, got back in several minutes and I've tried to disarm it with the key button as usual and nothing happened. I had to disarm the alarm with the security switch below the steering wheel.
I have all 3 keys - 2 blues and 1 red. Only one of the blues could set/disarm the alarm, the second was out of battery and I assume thats why the alarm has forgotten it when I bought the car. Anyway.... I replaced the batteries of the one that used to work until today and again I couldn't disarm it. I decided to memorize the keys again. I have the 4 digit code. When I press the button in the car, the green led starts to flashes, after 2-3 sec I release it and the green led stops flashing. After a second or two it flashes once - I press the key button as many times as is the first number from the code. I repeat this 4 times. My last number is 0 (zero) so I do not press the key. But nothing happens, the green led didn't flash anymore. Any ideas?

I tried this with the alarm disabled from the security switch, and enabled and set (I close the doors and enable and it doesn't start screaming :) because I am inside when it has been set). The third option is to try memorizing keys with the alarm enabled and disarmed, but I don't have any working keys now so I can't try it in this way.

With the alarm disabled I can start the car with all keys, so the Fiat Code is working properly.

Any help? :worship:

the problem is that the locking signal is not getting to the locking relay, which suggests the problem is between the alarm module and the locking relay (the locking wire has a bad connection). a wiring digram from haynes shows you the wire colours so you can do a test.

did the red LED on the remote flash when you pressed the button? there is no point programming anything until you know at least one of your remotes is working.

just to clarify-

does this mean you replaced the batteries in the remote that has never actually worked with your car before?
OR
does this mean you replaced the batteries in the remote that was working and now it doesn't work?

2 months ago I've bought new batteries for the remote (key in my case) that never worked because it didn't have any batteries inside. Despite the new batteries it didn't work again. On last Saturday when the other remote (blue key) has stopped working, I've switched the batteries between the remotes (keys) couple of times and nothing changed - they both don't work again.

Ok, I've just realized I am making big mistake. I am pressing the key on the remote in order to enter the password numbers. This is wrong... I had to press the button on the dashboard. So, I've just went to the car and give it a try. The result:
1. I press the button on the dashboard and keep it pressed. The green light is flashing. I press the button on the key and the light stops flashing. That means I have to do protected programming, because the memory is locked.

2. I press the dashboard button for about 2 sec, the green light is flashing during that time. I release it and the light stops flashing.

3. After a second or so it flashes one for the first number. I press the button on the dashboard as many times as is the first digit of the code. After a second or so the green light flashes once again.

4. I repeat step 3 for the next 3 digits.

5. After the last 4th digit, the green light starts flashing, that means the password is correct.

6. While the light is flashing, I press the button on the dashboard and keep it pressed. The green light continues to flash. I press and hold the button on the key until the green light stops flashing and remain on.

7. I release the button on the key after that I release the button on the dashboard. The green light goes off.

8. In a second or so, it goes on for about 5 sec. That means the programming is unsuccessful.

Where exactly is the problem now? I think I am doing everything as the manual says, but the alarm can't remember the key again. Unfortunately my 2nd key is not with me right now so I can't try this with it.

Please, help:worship::bang:

Edit: I forgot to tell you, that I had to enable the alarm from the master key in order the password to be accepted. But the alarm is set (on), because there is no working key left to disarm it. Could it be a reason for unsuccessful sincronization?

i'm not sure if the alarm needs to be switched off, i've never tried it with the alarm armed.

there is no need for you to do any programming after replacing the batteries. i think your remote stopped working because there is a fault with the alarm on the car, that is why replacing the batteries did not help.

Not good.... not good at all!
Did you read my last post before your?
Do you think it could be the alarm battery inside the alarm box in the car?
How can I catch the fault?

Thanks again!

the alarm module is seperate to the main ecu, however it can be diagnosed using an examiner machine, there is a seperate 3 pin connector on the car to use for this purpose. i suggest you have a diagnosis performed on your alarm system to identify any faults. a fiat dealer can do this for you.

I went to the dealer this morning and guess what.... they don't have alarm tester. What a pity! I called the main office in Sofia (the capital) they have one and probably I have to drive the whole way to Sofia and back. I am not satisfied at all...

wow so fiat are actually worse in bulgaria than they are in the uk! :(
You can bet on this...
I'll try to repair the alarm by myself. There is rechargeable battery inside the alarm and I am going to change it. I hope this could solve my issue.

Thanks again!(y)

Here is what is inside the alarm TRW Sipea which my car is equiped with.
I noticed a faulty resistor that may need to be changed along with a new set of batteries because they must be 12V but these in my cars are only 8.5V which means they are not working at all.

If you are curious what is happening here, let me know and I'll keep you guys posted.

Cheers

so you now have the remote codes, and working remotes
(and cant be bothered to search for the programming technique :nono:)

all you have to do is:

-Press the button that is between your courtesy light and the ultrasonic sensors on the roof of your car (near sunroof switch)
-Release the button after a second or two
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Enter the first digit of your 4 digit code by pressing the button the relevant number of times
-After a couple of seconds the LED will flash once
-Repeat this for the next 3 digits of the code.

If the code was correct the LED will flash for approximately 10 seconds.
(If the code was incorrect the LED will remain on for 10seconds, so start from the beginning when the LED goes out)

-With the LED flashing press and hold the button on the car and then press and hold the button on the key. Keep them both pressed until the LED stops flashing and remains on.
-Release the button on the remote, then the one on the car.

now what heppens next depends on the age of the car. some cars have a red LED others have a green LED.

for a red LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 6 times, but if it was unsuccessful the LED will flash 18 times

for a green LED, if the programming was successful the LED will flash 8 times (i think, maybe less), but if it was unsuccessful the LED will stay on for a few seconds (8 i think?)
Hi there, I've read every part of these remote programming threads and have still hit a problem - can anyone help?

I've lost one of my blue keys so bought another from Fiat. I have everything I could need - the red key, the other original blue key, the two four-digit codes for the original keys and the new four-digit code for the new key. All should be easy, except when I try to program the new key's four digit code into the car (using the button near the courtesy light), I keep getting the LED stay on for ten seconds, i.e. I've supposedly input the code wrongly. I've definitely input it correctly.

I can't believe the alarm thinks I've input the four digit code incorrectly - I've repeated it carefully and also, when I re-enter one of the original key four-digit codes, the LED flashes to say I've done it correctly. How can the car read the four-digit code on the sticker better than me, anyhow?! It doesn't know anything else about the key, cos the procedure doesn't need me to press the button on the key by this stage.

Please can anyone help?!
