OK so surely everyone for some reason sometimes needs to pull of very quickly... and we all know the automatics generally have a slower 0-60 than a manual of the same car would have.

Now i know you all probably know this lol, but ive just figured it out, and its cool, altough i wont be doing it anymore as it will probably screw the gearbox lol.

Put SPORT on, obviously, then put the gear box into 1, put your foot right down then quickly raise a bit then put it back down hard to activate kick down, drive in first until the revs are really high then push up into 2nd until high revs then up into third, then finally into D....

Fastest i have ever seen my 1.6 auto go haha :D

ive never seen a fiat auto! (shock horror!) do they have a "tiptronic" setting?

The new puntos and stilos etc all have tiptronic (Speedgear in the punto and Selespeed in the stilo?)

On the older fiats, like mine (1998) it has the following gears;

P
R
N
D
3
2
1

Don't think your really supposed to use 1nd 2nd and 3rd gears to race, its more for towing or something, or scenarios when you need to be in a lower gear?

If you want to see the gearbox of a Brava automatic, click the attached image :)

What car you got Abyss? :d

exact same as you bud brava 1.6 16v auto also feels really torquey when using the gears :) instead of letting it run through auto box

ive just done a feature on it in the members motors :)

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about to buy a 2001 Bravo 1.6 16V with automatic gearbox, what do you suggest? Is it a reliable car? What are the drawbacks? What is the average fuel consumption?

you should have started a new thread for this :)

personally i think the bravo/a range is not reliable overall, there are many common faults, and they occur fairly regularly, so many people end up fustrated and regret buying one.

however this, and fiats bad reputation, means they are also very cheap. if you have basic mechanical knowledge, and you're willing to spend a bit of time fixing the faults, it will be a great buy. all the common faults can be easily and cheaply fixed (especially with the help of fiatforum) so dont let it put you off buying one.

fuel consumption on the 1.6 isnt bad, not quite as good as the average 1.6, and the auto box makes your choice slightly worse on fuel, but overall its not at all bad when you consider the performance. the 1.6 has a surprising amount of torque compared to most other 1.6 engines, so thats a fair trade off for slightly increased fuel consumption, and makes it more satisfying to drive.

i would recommend buying one, but be aware that you will almost certainly have to fix a few faults while you own it. if you want trouble free motoring but a nissan, if you want a bargain and you're willing to get the tools out once in a while, get a brava.

they are nice to drive, and fairly well built, plus they wont rust. insurance is also very reasonable.

you just got to put it into categories really i mean for the price you will not get a car near what you get in the brava auto

mine cost me £600 1997 p reg 60K on the clock come on that was a bargain i couldnt refuse even with the short MOT and Tax but the mot came up clean apart from a corroded brake pipe and lambda sensor granted it was the ompanys fault for killing the lambda when they built the new exhaust :D

Thank you for opinions.
I like the design of Bravo but it's not a bargain to buy one here (in Turkey). It's about %10-15 cheaper than Focus. Maybe it wouldn't be my choice.

focus is 100% better so if it only costs 15% more get that instead. i'd happily pay twice the price for a focus, but they cost more than twice the price of a bravo in the uk :(

I got the answer, thank you :)
