Also Do you mean for me to bleed it while the engine is running????

you can only bleed it with the engine running. it wont work unless the engine it running and up to temperature.

i guess that explains the problem :D

So what the engine has to started like ticking over or do you mean it has to be switch on so heater is on??? So i bleed with all screws off???? And replace them 1 by 1 i was???? How do i flush the system (The engine)???

bleed it like this. close all bleed screws, start the engine, let it idle with the interior heater switch set to hot, open lowest bleed screw (rad) until water comes out then close it. now do next highest bleed screw until you get to the highest one. let the car idle for 5 minutes then do the highest bleed screw again. switch engine off. let it cool. refill coolant to max level. drive car for a good while. let it cool. check coolant level and top up if needed.

then do not bleed or refill anything for a few days and see what happens to the coolant level.

Ok but will my engine not over heat if i switch engine on remeber theres no liquid in engine and when my engine reachs 3 quarters of max temp its starts to spit water out from radiator cap which i expect is normal. will you way be alright and will get rid of air locks. All over times i have bleeded it engine has been of but heater has been on???

no coolant? well obviously you need to add coolant before you can bleed it.

you cant bleed it with the engine off because the water pump is not turning, so you havent actually bled it once yet.

it wont overheat once you bleed it properly.

maybe a haynes manual would be a good investment?

Dont mean i dont have no coolant, because i do i have 50/50 mix ready to go! i mean temp will jump up because theres no liqud in then engine when i go to bleed it.

it wont overheat that quickly. just add as much coolant as it takes to reach the max, then start it. the water pump should suck up most of the coolant allowing you to add more before bleeding it.

tryed above and it was all going well intill i left car for an hour i checked coolent levels and they was fine then took car for a spin and then same problem air came out highest matrix pipe.

any more suggestions?? what about if i jack front end of car up then try and bleed it again also i heard if u got problems u can but some stuf which sorts out leaks i think u put it in rad??? not sure though if i have a leak cant see 1

dont use radweld or any other leak stopping additives, they cause blockages more often than they fix leaks.

i'm starting to think you have headgasket failure. if air keeps appearing in the cooling system, and you've bled it properly, and there's no leak, it can only mean head gasket failure.

you need to take it to a garage for a cooling system pressure check. on the 1.4 you should use 0.98bar as the testing pressure, make sure you tell them that.

good luck.

Hello ok i have come to the colution that it may be air lock or a blockage i think this may be in radiator as when car over heats and i go to bleed radiator lets air out for a split second and this is after the radiator bottle cap is off so it couldnt be pressure??? so it seems furthest pipe and radiator are causing the bloackage which 1 im not sure??? most likely radiator ????whats best way to get roud this??? flush it??? If so how do i flush engine and radiator as i really do think this migh tbe the problem..

to flush you stick a hosepipe is the highest point and make sure the pipe at the lowest point is disconnected, then when you turn the hose on water is forced through hopefully removing any blockages.

a blockage wouldnt explain how air keeps getting in there, if you bleed it till water comes out, and then air comes out next time, it means there is water getting lost, or more specifically water is getting replaced by air. so you need to know 2 things, where the water is going to and where the air is coming from. the only options are a leak or headgasket failure. if there was a blockage it wouldnt cause air to enter the cooling system.

i bet you're getting very fustrated by now, i know i would be, surely its worth while getting a pressure test done on the cooling system, thats the best way forward and it shouldnt cost much at all.

Hello again, lol few questions ok so i have bleeded the car 1nce again but this time i forced water into system by the hose pipe, lol then i added collent by doing this so far my car has been good(2days of it being ok) the question is that i turned engine off, air came out the top matrix hose when i turn bleed screw now should that happen???? SOmeone said it might have to do that because when u switch off engine pressure is still in in system intill car cools right down. What do you think????

you should never open a bleed screw when the engine is turned off, this can allow air to enter the system.

there should never be air there even if you did open it. water should come out, or air should get sucked in, but air should never come out because air should never be there is the first place.
