Anyone know if the motor can on the Bravo/brava is the same as the motor can on the Marea? Have the back end open to unsieze the motor and I've found the motor is goosed. Looks like its overheated and burnt/melted the brush holders. New ones are £200 for the full thing new, looking for another 2nd hand one but a bravo/a motor would be easier to get hold of.

unless its for a merc or a jag they're all the same price, £5-10 depending where you go, dont pay more than a tenner.

Sorted (y)

Cost me £10 and it was £10 well spent! The motor was well and truly shot.. Here's a photo - original motor on the left.

I dont think they are very well built, I sold one on ebay the other day within minutes of listing it, I could have sold 30 the amount of people asked about the Marea one.

Hellcat, that is one donald ducked motor

and they do sell like hot cakes, one of the generic faults in the brav and marea range. i posted on boo a lil while ago i had one and had someone drive 70 miles and give me a damn good price for it (y)

drive 70 miles  for a wiper motor?! dear me the ebay generation dont realise there's ways to find things other than on the net. i bet there were dozens of motors closer than that. lol

maybe i'll start collecting rear wiper motors as well, you'll get 3 for a tenner if you're fond enough. how much do they usually go for?

yep, aparently the old boy had no luck finding anything locally and mine was the only one on the net that was guaranteed to be working!!!

they usually go for around 20 is, but mine went for 45, i said name a price, he came in with that, i was like yes please :D

i even overslept and he waited an hour for me to turn up at the meet point

£20 would do me nicely, £45 is definately worth getting out of bed for, you must have a very comfortable bed :)

£20 would have done me nicely aswell, but i said make me an offer, would have been daft to turn that down :D

err, its not very confortable at all, sofa bed in the office for the last few months courtesy of moving back home. . . think i may have been on the sauce the night before :D

my rear wiper motor was naffed too! so i just removed the whole thing a de wipered it! looks ten times better and all i needed was the rubber grommet i robbed off my old pug!

ah the long term solution. good idea

I notice in the top right of Hellcat's photo: the lo-o-ong spindle shaft... which makes me remember the Tipo rear wiper (with a shudder). The inevitable demise was always when that shaft corroded and siezed in its bushings... it was pot luck as to what happened next... sometimes the fuse blew, sometimes the circuit board tracks blew like a fuse, or sometimes the motor burned out...

It rather sounds as if all the models since the Tipo have enjoyed similar problems...
