Hi all you peps out there! Got a question. On my dash board a light which i think is the injection light has came on but it goes off when i turn the car on then of again. Is it something i should be worrying about or will it just past? The light looks like a hose with water spraying out.[:0][:0][:0]

It depends on how long it stays on for.
It indicates a fault in the injection system. If it comes on for a few seconds then goes out I wouldn't worry too much, but, if it comes on and stays on I would get it checked out, especially if the engine starts sounding too rough. You can still drive with the light on but keep the revs and the journey times down.
You could always try a fuel cleaning additive in case it's just dirty injectors. Check the hoses on the injector rail as well.

Hi

Mine used to do this all the time, but by the time I'd taken it to the garage it had gone out and a fault was never diagnosed.

I reckon some guy a FIAT said "we'll put an injection light in, the customers will think it's really smart, but it won't do a thing, we'll connect it up to the reversing light or something, that'll confuse them" just another FIAT quirk really.

I haven't heard of anyone who light has come on and there have been injection unit problems, would be interesting if there was.

Use REDEX ONE SHOT every other tank, it's only a quid and keeps your system nice and free flowing.

Cheers.:D

Firstly the fuel injector warning light is an engine, control and cooling system malfunction light and not just a injection malfunction indicator. For example if you unplug your cooling sensor to ECU sender it will come on so it really is a minefield that can only be diagnosed with correct equipment AND experience. As you ar ein Birmingham, may I suggest Grays of Warwick who are excellent and have a top technician, George, who is an etremely rare talent.

Second thing is redex. Its ********, dont use or any other cheap product off the shelf at Hellfords. These so called cleaners do not disolve residue they loosen it and turn it into a soft muck that then hopefully passes through the system with a cough and a splutter. Try and find a local garage that will sell you a product called Forte - its what the pro's use. There are two variants for Petrol engines, a System cleaner called Gas Treatment and an injector cleaner called Specialist Injector Cleaner. We use the Diesel version on any vehicle that smokes and it clears it within 15 miles. The importers are based in Coventry but you have to buy it in cases of 24 which isn't cheap. I wont sell you any as I dont think you can post it, so try their web site www.forteuk.co.uk and see if there is somewhere local you can get it. Its not cheap though!

You've really gotta stop saying ******** and crap about other peoples comments, you've done this about my comment above and I've seen you do it to others. It's not ******** or s**te it's just other peoples views or experiences, so if you don't agree, say so, but don't try to undermine or belittle people, it's not polite!

Thank you

You misread. I didnt say your comment was b*ll*cks, I said the product, Redex, was b*ll*cks...and it is for the reasons I stated, simple as that.

Sorry, I never meant to offend you, you misread it slightly - my fault.

No worries Nige

I wasn't offended I just thought you'd been a little harsh on other peoples opinions occasionally, but I do know that you know your stuff and I accept most of what you posts without question.

harsh - moi - surely not:D

I will try not to be in the future - but not if someone asks for an opinion of their new shark fin / white dials / lexus stye rear lights - I simply cannot let those auto faux pas pass without the derision they deserve lol

Steve, STP Injector cleaner is still nowhere near the Forte stuff. I do warn you though, Forte can cost as much as £20 a go - but you get what you pay for.

Cheers

Hi everyone, (im new)

sorry to go back to the redex argument but i just did i booboo i put 2x more oil in X reg 2000 polo gti (26,000 miles on clock) then there should be (smoke and C*** excuse my french all coming out the back)not good!, i took it to a place where they took the oil back down to the regular amount by unscrewing a nut under the car. the guy said to put redex in which will help get rid of the carbon biuld in the engine up i just spent £5.99 for it. halfords or Hellfords:) said to wait till i need fuel and add a few cap full in. but from the comments i have seen above, becuase i put so much oil in i am sared all the gunnj will clog up the injectors. Is it worth trying to get hold of this more expencive stuff called Forte??? (HOW MUCH ROUGHLY SPEAKING IS IT?) or am i ok using redex. couldnt find much on the internet on FAQ other then what happenes if i put the whole lot of redex in one go. I love my car and i feel real sorry for it what should i do pls help!

p.s. will the catalitic convertor in the exchust system be ok or have i buggerd that up aswell was running the car with the x 2 oil for about 2-3 hrs all together

Hi stratis and welcome to the forum. :D

First check if you have one shot or top up redex. One shot will say put everything in, top up will say put 50ml or similar in at each refuel. Don't put all of the top up in at one time. If you have top up you can use it as per instructions after you have used a one shot treatment.

In general terms:
Redex and STP are budget end additives, they will clean, but won't get you back to new. STP do a dual pack valve and injector clean kit for about £10.

Forte is used by the trade and can be difficult to source, see link in alfanige,s post.

I used powerboost from www.ecotekplc.com/power_boost.htm on mine and you can also get 10k boost or other similar products from halfords or motor shops.

guess what i found "Forte" yep thats right there is a shop in north london where i live that sells it. £6.50 just put it in my car. feel the difference already. if aanyone wants to know where to buy it just ask. the guy in the shop said its good to put this stuff in once every 6 months or so. He warned me though to be carefull as its like paint stripper and if it drips on the car well u know the rest. I was sooooooooooooooooooo carefull it was like a milatery operation heehee. Anyway i got a bottle of redex to sell if anyone wants it i will do it for a £5.:D;):D

Hi all, new to the forum. I just bought a 1999 Brava 1.6i HSX and I've been getting the Injection warning light intermittently. After reading through the forums I decided to look up Forte engine cleaner and I've found a website that sells it.

hxxp://www.funkyproduct.co.uk/

I've put the xx's in because I'm not sure what the rules are about direct links. You'll need to do a search to find it, but they stock quite a large range of Forte products. I'll let you all know how I get on when I've recieved it. Great forums by the way, very helpful!:D
