Hey guys,
I have a fiat brava 99 1.6 litre 16 valves.
I have a problem:

Often when I don't wait for it to get fully warm, just after a couple of minutes wait (sometimes even when I start it and it's already warm after a drive), the acceleration is sluggish, even after it gets fully warm. This means that when I press the gas pedal, slow acceleration happens and the car doesn't react as usual and there's a delay between the gas pedal push and the lazy reaction of the engine. What's most weird about this is that when this happens and I turn off the engine and immediately turn it back on, the car will be back to normal..... Very weird.

I took it to a BOSCH service center and the guy plugged it in the computer (scanner), he accessed the error memory of the car and erased it because there were too many past errors, he told me to bring it in in a couple of days and then the error would be clear to him. But he told me that most probably I'll need to replace the oxygen sensor (will it fix the consumption?) because it appeared a bit slow during the test, and possibly I'll need to clean the injectors. (I don't think they need cleaning cos the car acts normally after the restart, what do you think?).
What do you think guys, need some help, could it really be the oxygen sensor causing these symptomes?
Thanxalot.

Yes it could be the oxygen sensor. O2 sensors don't last forever and worth a change if you have poor mpg and sluggish/ flat spot acceleration. The sensor is ignored by the ECU until it's warmed up so if it's fine until it's warm then needs an engine switch off again to sort it then it sounds very much lke O2 sensor

Again Deckchair5, thanxalot for your reply.... I'm relieved by your opinion, I'll go down on Saturday and have it replaced. The guy told me that the original O2 sensor, like the one installed costs about $85, and the Bosch one which is supposed to be better, is at $125, I think I'm gonna go for the first one.... What would you recommend?
Thanx man.

Not sure where you are CROW but a universal O2 sensor here costs around £40
Sorry, I'll update my profile lateron.... I'm in Lebanon and I think it's pretty much the same cost.... Thanxagain for your help.

Sensor replaced, problem solved. Thanxall for your help.
Salutations for Deckchair5, thanx man.

Has anyone got a picture of Lambda sensor position for 1.6 Brava?

I've looked on exhaust manifold and CAT unit and can't see anything.

Thanks.
