I have a Fiat Brava which was brought about 4 months ago. I am having problem with the car when it comes to starting the car. I thought it was the battery but coudn't establish the problem so went to Fiat and they needed a Red key which I didn't know about and they said £1000 to get new keys etc.

I serched on the Internet and found www.codeman.org and they will be able to sort out red keys for less then £200 but inorder to sort out keys I need the ECU number http://www.codeman.org/fiatecu.html and the Code Block http://www.codeman.org/fiat_code_block.html . But I was unable to find the both number. I phoned the guy up but he was saying whatever was shown on his web site. But like I said coudn't find it. Is there any chance anybody would actually know where they are located. If you do could you please post here or e-mail me please.

My car is a Fiat Brava 80 SX, 5 Door Hatchback, Registration Plate: W263 M**.

Please do help me its URGENT, AND THANKS IN ADVANCED.

Please do help me out people. I am clicking F5 like every five minutes.

The ECU is sited all over the place depending on the model and year
Mine's an 80SX and it's on the bulkhead nice and easy. 2 large cable bunches going in and the ECU is held on by 4 torx bolts

Some are next to the battery
Some are next to the drivers foot in the footwell

Go here http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/home.htm and search for ECU

You should have been given the red key when you bought it. It's illegal to sell it without it for this very reason

your not being avoided but its a case of waiting for brava/o owners to come online

perhaps a post here will get a quicker reply

And thanks for your reply aswell.

This person called DAZ replyed to my post which is..........

I'm sure all mk2 ECU's (like yours) are located at the rear of the engine bay, backwards from the battery...

If not, the only other place i have seen them located is under and left of the glove box, under the door trim panel.

The code box is inside the fuse box (drivers right knee). You need to undo the screw and half remove it to read the number.

Hope this helps...

Thats what I am confused on because when me dad went to Main Dealers they said need red key inorder to check the cars electrical fault in some sort of machine.

A diagnostic check? Garages don't need a red key for that.

Let's have the full story Wasim

What engine size? mileage?

Symptoms? History? What happened on the run up to its current state of not starting? There are people here who can help you if you give alll the details.

"I am having problem with the car when it comes to starting the car" isn't much to go on

Ok guys my dad has gone out, when he comes back I will ask him details and post reply here.
