I know this is a dumb question but I have a 51 plate Brava with a blown head. Bought a 51 plate Bravo engine from the breakers only to find it had no sensor in the head and was throttle cable type. Mine is fly by wire... Yes I Know(n) I should have checked. Looking at it there is no way this lump will go into my car. The breaker doesn't want to know although he assured me all the blocks were the same. (NOT) and I'm out 200 quid :(. What I'm asking is do any of you Fiat mechanics know what this older style 1.2 16v will transplant into apart from a Bravo? Will it go into a Punto for instance or an earlier Brava? It just seems a waste of a good engine and yes,,, My 200 quid. There are a glut of good Puntos out there with H/G problems and i'm thinking of getting one of those and transplanting to get my money back. Any suggestions would be gratfully received. Thanks Terrylee.

Are you sure there is no blanking plug where this sensor is supose to be, apart from that I would also have thought the engine itself would be the same lump, the fly by wire would have come on the inlet minifold, which are all interchangable, so at a guess the only problem seems to be this sensor.
Do you know what it is for?

Seems like you've been unlucky with the year of the car, or you were "done" by the breaker... but the blocks are technically the same.

All later cars (2000?) - including Puntos - had the revised engine with the cam and crank sensors, instead of just the crank sensor. There is an extra cable that goes into the cylinder head. Also the later engines had an extra aluminium section between the block and the sump.

I don't know exactly which cars your engine will fit, but obviously any early Mk2 Brava / Bravo with that engine, and I would think any similar Punto Mk1/Mk2 at least. The engine may also be fittable into a 1.4 Brava/Bravo with a failed engine, there are a few of those around....

are you selling the engine, is it the one on ebay atm, where abouts are you, when your head gasket went on your brava can i just ask how did it go, cos my 2000 bravo head just went 2 days ago, also does anybody no if this engine will go into my bravo, its a 1242cc 16v 80sx but upto now im not 100% sure if it is the head gasket

It will work. I have an 01 punto sporting with a 99 brava engine and there is nowhere for the cam sensor to go, it was clearly blanked off by the previous owner. It does require alot of modification to get wired up (biggest trouble being the exhaust and sensors) and you have to remove the studs in the inlet side of the head to allow the bolts for your own manifold. I have pics to prove it!!! :D
