as above really .. after advice on these as im a rover boy and im used to working wiht 1800 vvc metro's and small hatches but never fiats... i can get teh coupe 20v turbo as a complete car so can use all the parts avalible to me.. has it been done many times?? and anyone got an idea of wots involved??

Yes its seems to be getting done more and more, now to Mareas too. If you have a donar car your gonna get very little problems on the mechanical side its just figuring the electrics, but its possible. Im not sure if this is required but every Bravo thats been converted is a MK1 with the analogue speedometer and not a MK2.

well please help me out lads im doing it to a P reg bravo 1400 cc... im going to buy a 20v tubz and go for there.. on the electrical side of things wot is differnt?? do you have to splice the two looms togehter or jst convert a few plugs?? anyone got any diagrams?? or any tips would be useful

yeah i would have to advise you dont start with the 1.4, i dont think i've seen anyone start with anything other than a 20v that has actually managed to get it up and running.

there was a part converted 1.6 on ebay last week that needed all the electrics sorting, i was a bit tempted but left it, it sold for £300.

i still have ABS issues now even after throwing an awful lot of money at it, removing the ABS system entirely may have been a better choice but i wanted to keep it.

best of luck with the project, i'll advise wherever possible :)

Ry:)

EDIT: Or if you wanna save yourself some money, buy this one

its the best one i know of around at the moment :)

your best starting point is a 2.0 147 HGT bravo, if y9our working with the 1.4 you have the breaks to wory about and ABS and a hole host of issues

Not true, ABS can be retrofitted, the brakes you would use from a coupe anyway. Any Bravo will do. However the HGT does have the better trim and if the engine is any good, will get you afew quid towards your Turbo project. Unlike a 1.4 engine, nobody wants.

There is a wiring guide floating about somewhere but the people who have it, wont share it so easily as it took alot of time and effort to create it and get it right.

The engine will fit into any bravo/a so no worries on what you start with, though I would echo whats said above and go for the HGT.
Wiring wise, you dont need to do any chopping or cutting to get round it, just drop in the ecu and engine loom from the coupe and fit it all up, the only sticking point is the immobiliser, I had mine removed from the ecu and fitted an aftermarket one.
You'll need the coupe steering rack if you go for the brakes, as the brakes mean changing the uprights, which are different to HGT ones. Not hard to do, and again, bolts straight up.
Its a very easy conversion really, everything is plug and play.
Good luck with it ;)

I was under the impression the HGT and Marea's had bigger front wings than the other Bravos, because the space needed for the engine? I thought that's what I read in a few posts. I could be wrong though

the wings are wider yes, as is the bumper but it will all still bolt together.

Steve, there are a few wiring changes that HAVE to be made for it to fire up, atleast in my case there was, did you not change anything on yours?

As Ry says, it will still bolt up. You could put a 20v in a 1.2sx if you wanted. ;)

The only wiring I did was ripping the immobiliser out, I cant remember doing any more than that tbh mate. What did you do on yours? Might jig my mind a bit.

Had to swap a few wires on the 20pin connector in the engine bay where the engine loom plugs into the car loom to match up the starter motor and a few others.

nothing too major, took about 9 hours of diagram crawling to get it right though lol.
