my fiat brava 1.2 sx airbox screws have siezed i've tried alsorts to get the cover off to change the filter and i was wondering how hard/easy it is to remove the airbox and just buy another airbox or cone filter thingy.lol replace it with that. the screws are headed now and i've tried a screw extraction kit, to no avail.

lowering the airbox down through the access panel below it in the wheel arch may be difficult or even impossible with the lid fitted, but i have never tried it so i dont really know. give it a go.

Had the same prob with my air box. Opted to drill the heads off the two large bolts:D. Lid is still retained by outer screws.

Had to drill mine out too. I spent many hours trying to get the airbox out of the car in an attempt to fix the problem on the bench. There seemed to be more bits of the car out of the car in order to get at the airbox. Drilling it seems drastic, but start with a small drill size and work up until the head of the screw comes off the shaft. I worked for me. Have fun.
