well... after being told my engine in the bravo was fubar'd... the best port of call was a like for like swap! so i set about finding an engine!

got one off ebay, with the help of my mate Nath he found me one on ebay in York for £150... totally spot on.. still has coils, starter motor, alternator, belts HT's EVERYTHING still attached!! which was a total bargin, big up to nath for finding it, and emailing the guy and getting me the deal!! collected it yesterday. and today.. my mate ian and i prepped the old engine for lifting next weekend when Nath is gonna drop the new one in.. we was gonna get the old one out today but time was pressing on and it never happened.. but all needs to be done is engine mounts unbolting and lifting!! so its allllll goood! more to come next weekend when the swap will commence!

innit

shes getting alot of attention atm!! its just a pain in the bum that the engine thats being taken out... has had like £800 work of work on it before the terminal problem happened.. with the HG and the belt slipping and bending valves and that... but ah well! sh*t happens i guess!

in the mean time ive got Candice to jib about in  im enjoying the corners at speed in me little go kart :D

seriously.

this car is more trouble than its worth!

break it. stop fixing it. its obviously wanting to die :)

At least it is a 1.2 and you can climb into the engine bay with it to work on it...

Think I know which scrap yard that will be on the outskirts of York if it's from a scrappies.. They have a bit of everything in there.

nah it was from a geezer off ebay. i cant beleive the bargin i got, he said it was at about 48k aswell

Yeah! takes almost a day just to disconnect all the sensors on a 20v!

and jamie, shut your face. its my car, and if i wanted your opinion on what im doing in terms of fixing it, selling it, scraping it.. i would have asked. which i didnt, its my F-ing car not yours. i wanna fix it, so back off you childish little :tosser:

LOL!

Today is the day!

im up and waiting for the boys to arrive! the weather is poo so im gonna have to get the gaybo out to shield us from the elements! im also gonna paint the calipers and change the brake pads while im at it! or rather while the boys are at it haha.

ill take plenty of pictures and update when i leave them to it and skulk off to "make coffee" hehe :D

SHE LIVES!!!

i met the boys yesterday at abut 10am and brought them to my house... by 11.20 the old engine was dangling from the crane :D

once that was lifted and moved and plonked infront of my next door neighbours front door.. we were faced with this!

but the lads got onto it and my friend Ian dropped by to over see proceedings!

next job was to swap the gear box from the old onto the new.. which involved a little bit of man handling of a dangling engine!

Gearbox.jpg

Nath (guy looking like hes humping my old lump) informed me it might be nice if i had a new clutch, cos the old and one on new engine didnt look too great... so off i sent my dad to the parts place and £85 pound later he returned with a brand spanking new clutch kit!
once the gear boxe and the new clutch was i place... it was time to swap the belts, seeing as the old engine had pretty new belts on... it made sense to recycle! so Nath set to work while i began painting the calipers (i later gave up and they remain a mixture of green, blue, and muck lol)

new engine goes in!!

was abit of a task to get it in but after some man handling and a few trapped fingers!! it was in!

Steely dropped by and changed my break pads for me :D

before dark the new engine was in and pretty much connected

after a few more things sorted... SHE LIVES!!

kicked out abit of smoke but thats fine, its cleared now!

there was a slight leak of water.. but i think that'll sort itself after a while cos i dont know how long the old engine was left for, and Nath forgot to connect the speedo so on her first run out i had to guess my speed through cameras which was worrying!!

shes gone in for her MOT today so ill let you know how that goes too!!

wooooo the Beast is back!

:woot:

keeping fingers crossed very tightly for the MOT.

(whoever suggested reusing the belt should be slapped)
