i think im actually gonna cry :(

BravoBeastie went in garage to have new tyres, and i asked the garage man to have a gander at why shes missing in the low revs... he said compression was down on cylinder 1, its slow to 100. but he hadnt had a proper look.. so went back later in the day... and i was told its terminal  he said something about the bore of the block had widened  and its letting the gasses out or something. so its either a new engine, or a complete rebuild. i dont have that kinda money to get a garage to do it or the knowledge to do it myself.

im proper gutted. shes too good for scrap and i dont know what to do. i just feel like crying

something sounds suspect here.

How, without stripping the engine down does he know this?
low compression would be more likely a head gasket valve or a worn piston ring. Does the car give off blue smoke?

I would seriously consider a second opinion. (y)

The garage mechanic might be 100% right as these cars suffer oil starvation.

A trade technique when a garage doesn't want to touch a car is to diagnose it as terminal. Usually to sell you another one or because they dont want to touch it.

I would have someone else look at the car. :)

ive been at a RR day with a VW forum today (sorry ), and got a few opinions on the car.. they all think i need a second opinion. its not kicking blue smoke.. and apprently you would get piston slap if what shaun (my local garage man) says about the problem is true. and piston rings would go first  they said to keep an eye on the oil and get a second opinion. i just find it weird that with this apprent problem.. she still managed to kick out 94 horses on the RR a few weeks ago
