what is a c/belt?
if you mean the auxilliary drive belt it is easy to replace, you simply get a spenner on the tenisoner bolt, then use the spanner to lever the tensioner out the way so you can slip the belt off. be careful the spanner needs to be held in place, if you let go you may lose a finger when the belt tension suddenly increases.
if you mean the timing belt, its as easy as any twincam, there is nothing special or unusal on this engine. if you dont have the cam and crank locking tools you can lock the crank with a screwdriver on the flywheel and use tippex to mark both cam pulleys.
the idle issue is very common on the 1.6. it is usually due to a faulty (or dirty) idle speed control actuator. a quick spray of contact cleaner can sort it out. also clean the inside of the throttle body and reset the ecu (disconnect battery for an hour).
the starter motor should not be noisey. can you describe the noise?
