Ok decided i wanna mesh the front bumper now (cause it looks crap) but in black mesh (i like the dark car theme :D). been having a look at it, and how the heck did you do yours?

Does the bumper come apart in two (between the coloured bit and that interior black bit) or did you just cut it REALLY carefully? :D

I've gotta take off bumper anyway to fix the gap, so removal is no problem, perhaps i'll do it next w/e.. thnx

hehe, sorry ben, hadn't seen this post:)

There are about 8 bolts under the front bumper, 2 on each side of the inner wings (you need to jack the car up and take off the wheels and arch lining to get at these), 2 bolts under the bonnet, 2 clips under the headlights and you'll also need to remove the foglights, and if you have them, be careful with the headlamp washers as the hose breaks very easily and you'll end up with screen washer fluid all over the drive/street!

The bumper doesn't come apart in two I had to use a jigsaw and cut out the plastic in the mouth of the grill. Then I sanded it down with some wet and dry paper and then repainted the bumper using a spray can from Halfords. In all took me a day and a bit to do.

Just a thought, try and make sure you can find a bit of mesh large enough, the width of the HGT front bumper is 1.2 metres and most of the mesh you can buy is only 1 metre wide.
I don't think your bumper mouth is as wide, but measure it first before you go to buy the mesh.

Hmmm, seems a lot harder than i thought. My black plastic inside comes right to the front at the top, so does your mesh go all the way to the front too? And so basically the mesh is behind the bumper? (ie not in any of the gaps..)

i'll go halfords tonite, see if they have my paint color (do i need primer or anything?)

I know what you mean, but it's difficult to explain, so here goes.

The original black plastic grill used to sit flush with the front of the front bumper and went back about 3cm deep.
So yes the mesh sat about 2cm into the bumper behind the lip of the bumper mouth and yes it went all the way up to the top (again sat about 2cm back).
Such a shame I no longer have this bumper;)

No I didn't use primer, just smoothed the bumper where i'd cut out the original mesh, cleaned it, sprayed over the top and added lacquer.
