I have a fiat Panda in Cocktail Blue

now i need a touch up pen

so i went down to the local Fiat garage to buy one and he told me he had none in stock so would ring round and ask a few other places. now he has come back to me and said there are none in the country!! so i have to wait untill they get some from overseas (at my cost!!!) or pay £350 to have 1 little scratch on 1 door re sprayed!!

in my opinion i think the guy is just fobbin me off so i pay to have the door resprayed, but it would be nice to try the touch up pen myself first.

Can any one help me on where i can get one, or what your opinions on this are??

thanks

Thanks for the useful info

so if i go down to halfords tonight they should be able to mix some up for me? what info do i need to give them or do i just tell them it is cocktail blue?

Not entirely sure to be honest not having done it myself, if you can find the paint code (usually on a silvery sticker either under the bonnet or the boot) it cant hurt to have that ready to provide them. You could also try bodyshops if theres any near you, they should be able to mix up touch up paint for you

If you don't have the code, you can spend time going through books until you find it, so a quick look in the boot for the paint code is easier :) I get a full spray can, spray a bit into the cap and use make-up brushes for touch-up.

Halford will do you mixing up for the car for £10 a tin, I dont rate there mixing skills in Gateshead but they might be better some where else, They just mixed my some metal gray for subaru and its looks nowt like the car colour at all. But i just got a can mixed up for my wing on the bravo and it looks perfect at the moment.

Still looking for a cheep place to do a full respray over the car. Want some funky two tone colour, or 1 single colour bright looking colour or full black not sure yet thou lol

havn't seen the scratch so I dunno if it will work, but get a marker pen of a similar kind of colour, fine as posible and fill in the scratch, now no way are you ever going to find a marker pen that matches.

So step 2: cover the marker pen with nail varnish, trust me I have had 4 cars and my g/f has had the same colour nail varnish as all 4. Just use enough nail varnish to hide the marker pen.

Finally use some t-cut or similar product and trust me if u match it up properly u will save ££££££'s

Halfords sell them alright, but dont mind the brush they give ya with it, its usless the paint goes everywhere.
use a cocktail stick dipped in the paint and run it through the scratch. the touch up paint usually has a laquer mixed into it so when the paint is dry it might look a little lumpy, rub it down with p2000 sandpaper(very light stuff)and when its flat you can put t-cut or something similar on it and if done right it will be hardly be noticable.,.,
good luck.,.,

Touch up pens are a bad idea. First off you won't get a colour match, second, the paint will not be smooth once you have applied it. You are better off getting a smart repair done if it is just for small chips or scratches as the results will be much better.
