Hello, planning the next big Panda operation.

Rust proofing the underneath, wheel arches and as much as I can get of the chassis neck from under the bonnet on each side of the engine.

Or rather, preserving its current surface rust only condition today so that I can hopefully not worry about rust for 4-5 years. Everything is structurally sound on the Panda, and the aim is to keep it that way as much as possible.

Some key areas I'm still unclear on:

- How to get the underside / wheel arches and greasy / oily engine bay surfaces CLEAN enough to work on

- How to get on the inner surfaces of affected areas, e.g. Inside the crash barrier support, I can treat what I can see, but getting into small voids where rust is bound to spread to seal it - any solution or 360 spraying nozzle?

- How primer works, for example, what's its function? Can I wire brush, then when the car is down to metal or at least dirt and rust free simply give it a good spread of primer THEN some sort of stone chip product? Does the primer need to be primer or some sort of special anti rust type?

- finally, after 'primed', is stone chip like spray/paint a suitable finish OR waxoil? I'm thinking something rough, capable of dealing with constant battering from the weather and that will not wash off easily - waxoyl strikes me as a product that won't stick for long, is it advisable to spray/paint stone chip resistant coating paint THEN waxoyl on top?!

It's at the stage now where I've been talking about this for so long it's time to order the parts and simply get messy with the wire brush and paint brush until my Panda is looking neat and tidy and well coated in armour.

I'm told that Fiats stingy layer of rust proofing is so poor that I shouldn't be worried about 'making it worse' than leaving it to rust! ...I hate VW and likewise brands, but they do talk about their 9 step bodyshell prep process a lot and I've not seen any of their ugly, boring cars with rust on like my Panda [emoji52][emoji58][emoji52][emoji53][emoji848]

Thanks FF
