filler/sealer primer

just wondering if anybody knew if this stuff http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=1395&Mainselection=13
which is marketed as a filler and sealer would be ok to paint over rattle can filler primer that has been sprayed on the car before spraying a top coat, or will i need a separate sealer to spray between the rattle can primer and the 2k primer?

It'll probably be ok to spray over the top of the existing primer but ultimately the only way to tell is by trying. If the previous primer is synthetic / oil based forget it. If it's celly then you might want to seal it to fully harden as Celly hardens through evaporation of solvents so can react if oversprayed too soon. 2K hardens through chemical reaction but its a bit nasty unless you've got proper breathing equipment. Waterbased should react as long as it is fully hard. oooerr

unsure what the primer is, just a can of filler primer from halfords, using it for convenience as i don't want to set up compressor, breathing equipment, spray gun etc just to spray bits and pieces of bare metal on the car with 2k as most of the car has decent paint that im gonna sand with 400 grit with a da sander (correct me if i'm wrong in doin this) i wanted to spray the 2k primer just over bare metal and filler i had on the car to avoid any unwanted reactions before painting, seing as the datasheet sheet for the paint recommends the primer i stated in my first post to paint over.... hope that makes sense

Waterbased should react as long as it is fully hard. oooerr

If it's bare metal then you probably ought to use an etch primer for best results. You can buy from a paint supplier, halfords would probably sell, ebay or even somewhere like www.bilthamber.co.uk sell cans of etch primer.

Existing paint is probably ok to key with 800 grit to avoid unwanted sanding marks when you paint.

I believe there should be no reaction spraying 2k over cellulose (which is probably what the halford primer is) aslong as it's been on a while and the solvents have evaporated fully.
