turns out the colour I want for my car is a metalic colour but I dont want to have metalic as its harder to spray and i dont know how/dont have the experience to do it properly. solid colours im ok with :)

Is it possible to get the same colour (same code) (or atleast very similar) but in a solid cellulose or acrilic colour rather than metalic paint?

or doesnt it work like that?

cheers

do it with base and laquer. . .
put a coat of base on, then use a tack rag so the metalic dossent stand up(do this between each coat) then on ur final coat give it a lite dust coat.
then apply ur laquer as you would your solid. :D

see i have no idea what a tack rag is lol :p

neither dust coat.. ide rather stick with what I know and metalic isnt that.

anyone know if the rover 100 purple is metalic or solid? I like that one :)
i shall check for you 2mo if thats not to late? (y)

That Rover purple is metallic i think.

BMW violettrot, code 316 or 328, is solid as far as i can tell.

nh got plenty of time.. dont even have the car im spraying yet :p

Just wanna get a colour im happy with sorted..

just needs to be a nice deep purple (must be closer to black than being pale) but in a solid colour so I can spray a solid cellulose base coat

or poss acrillic and then lacquer but still dont want it to be metalic becuase i dont get it :p

but like i said.. rover 100 purple is good !

ahh yeah :p.. ot sure which i prefer heh

jsut another quick question.

Cellulose paints fade and loose there shine with time.. or atleast defo will if you dont polish every now and then :)...

would putting a coat of lacquer over the top help this or not? or should i just not bother with cellulose and just go with base coat and lacquer?

If you're gonna lacquer it, you may as well do it with 2 pac. Cellulose is just the quick cheap and easy way to spray the car as it doenst need a laquer coat :)

2pac is meant to be alot more colour fade resistant, but harder to work with IMO

Last time i checked, you painted with it not eat it ;) :D

From my experiences i cant say the cellulose paint has faded that much. my uno is sprayed with cellulose, and that always comes up a lovely deep red after a polish. Dads shaguar hasnt faded either, and thats just plain cellulose too, although is in the garage alot of the time :)
