Managed to scuff the front bumper on my Mk2 Punto today, and now that I've finished yelling expletives I'm trying to find how best to fix this up. :bang:

It's pitch black outside right now so I won't be able to take a decent photo, I'll get one tomorrow when it's light, but I've marked on this photo of my car where the damage is:

What's the best way to deal with this without setting fire to my wallet? If anyone could give me a rough idea of what it'd cost to fix, that'd be good.

Thanks in advance! :worship:

Depends on how bad the scuff is on the bumper is it on the plastic part of the bumper and or paint part and how deep is the scuff.

if the scuff feels like is hasn't made a groove in the bumper then i would personally use t-cut as its the cheapest, and should remove the mark.

It's partly on the plastic part, but mostly on the painted part. Seems light on the plastic, but fairly deep on the painted part.

Can definitely feel the groove on there, feels rough to the touch. There's one tiny spot, maybe 3mm square where it's gone down through the paint and it's dark grey, I'm guessing this is the plastic colour underneath?

You might get away with using a touch up pen for the painted part of the bumper as this is the cheapest option or you can go to an auto body repair shop to see how much they will repair it for you.

As for the plastic part of the bumper does it just look like a white mark or it is deeper?

You could also try this option for the bumper

Will look into those touch up pens, I guess I need to find the paint code for my Punto and get one for that off of eBay or from Halfords or something?

Plastic part I'm not so sure, it just looks like a white mark, but it might be deeper than it looks. I'll get photos up tomorrow definitely.

There's a mention of getting a new bumper from a scrappy in that thread, I have a friend who'd probably swap the bumper for me, but I'm completely new to all of this, and short of knowing I'd need to find a scrappy with one of them, I really wouldn't know where to start. Is it going to be relatively easy to find one or is it a pretty long shot you think?

Thanks for all your help by the way! :)

The paint code is under the bonnet on your bonnet there should be a sticker if not ring fiat and they will tell you the paint codes also there is some colour schemes on this thread fiatforum.com/punto/193361-fiat-punto-paint-code.html (post 13) if that helps =]

if its a white mark on the bumper this thread these techniques might work fiatforum.com/car-care/199799-white-marks-exterior-plastic-plus-others.html

Personally i wouldn't get a new bumper unless it was hanging off its fittings as tbf bumpers are there to protect the rest of the car and are usually the first thing to get scuffed and scratched and would be probably one of the most expensive options and most bumpers from scrappy would probably have surface damage on them and to find one in mint condition and dirt cheap would definitely be a long shot.

hope you get your car sorted =]

if you could click the thumbs up (thanks button) at the corner of one my post it would be much appreciated

Cheers
