Hi

I recently purchased some Abarth bumpers for my punto mk2 i knew they were a bit damaged so i got them cheap. the damage is not that bad but i need advice.

Any advice on repairing these would be great starting from the most obvious of things!

This is where the exhaust has worn away a bit of the bumper from the previous owner. not that noticeable from the outside but on the underside of bumper there is quite a large hole (picture below)

The hole (from underneath)

There is a slight crack on the front bumper (its not gone all the way through so its ok.

This is on the front bumper and the two bits are cracked and not attached (properly) to the rest of the bumper. I think they have made a feeble attempt at repairing this bit. But it is still not very strong and needs re enforcing.

Finally i am missing this part (the hole cover up thingy majiggy) can i use one off a standard punto mk2 front bumper?

I will be giving "Thanks" to anyone that helps me out on this.(y)
(once they are repaired I will need advice on spraying lol)

Hi mate,

The toe eye cover (bottom pic) will have to come from another abarth bumper, as the standard mk2 one is a slightly different shape. The crack on the front bumper can probably be sorted with a bit of fiberglass filler (as long as its only superficial. The exhuast damage will be a bit more difficalt. Its not an ideal, but i would cut out the cracked bit, then use some thin mesh at the back to fill the gap then apply some fibre glass filler.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

For £100 im sure you could have gotten better ones if you had been a little more patient. But i think as a1ant says on the hole cut out a bit around it and then put some fibreglass, you can get some from that is already mixed with the resin all you do is add hardener i think it will be easier to use as well rather than the matting

i think you got a good deal (y), when you add up the cost of new bumpers, then cost of spraying and fitting it can come to a hell of alot.
on the rear bumper could you not cut the damaged part out and have an exhaust mounted through the gap? or is it too big?
