I wouldn't say 'mad'...I'd say 'Brave'!!
It's a very nice motor, don't get me wrong, but I was advised a good few years ago to never buy a brand new model of car in the first few months that they come out - a lot can go wrong, electrics, call backs etc. and Fiat don't exactly have a good record in that department ( take the cambelt tensioner problem for example!!!)
Sorry, but you asked for an opinion - I still think it is a great car though, just I wouldn't buy one just yet, that's all!

!!What Goes Around Comes Around!!

I'd agree with the comment about not buying the first cars. I used to work in the test lab for a major automotive interior trim supplier. At that time we were developing the interior for the new Mini. Because of the demands of the customer during production ramp-up our engineers were desperate for parts to supply to avoid being penalised for causing the production line to halt. They ended up taking tested parts off the shelves and sending them to the customer. Some poor buggers have Minis with interiors that have been subjected to all sorts of high and low temperature stress tests, chemical resistance tests etc. It's cheaper for the company to replace failed parts than to not keep up the supply to the manufacturer. We had door handles that had been operated 50,000 times at -40°C sent to the customer!

I was shocked at first but then I realised that ALL suppliers do it and it takes a while for parts production to ramp-up and to run smoothly. Don't buy the first off's. Let some other buggers have them. There is ongoing development after the car is launched to iron out quality problems. they are never gone before production because the start of production is set in stone. Personally I would leave it a year or so before buying a new model.
