So yesterday I bought my new to me B. I'd driven a couple before this, but this one drives very nicely and it did surprise me about how responsive the engine was, how well the brakes worked and how well it handled - very pleased indeed.
It's an 1999 LE, really like the interior, both the interior and exterior just oozes character. Green with tan hood/interior. Cant post pics just yet as I havent made 5 posts, but I will when I can!
So far plans are simple. Will give a full service including all fluids for piece of mind over the next couple of weeks, and check out everything underneith. It seems very tidy, and if nothing looks to untoward it'll get a full underseal at the end of the summer from a local place.
It has a custom plate, which I'm going to remove and put it back on its originals, probably in black, replace the HU with a retro style one and update the speakers/setup a subwoofer.
Future mods will probably include strut bars and lowering springs and that'll be it. Not planning to go crazy and very much want to keep it stylish and looking original.
I have a couple of questions though so far...
1) I noticed about 3 hours into my drive home yesterday that the temperature needle would hit the middle mark, then drop down to 1/4, then go back up to 1/2 again. This cycle occured every 5 minutes or so. I wasn't going to worry about it to be honest unless you guys think its something like a dodgy thermo? Seems to get up to temp with no issue.
2) My windows are ever so slightly leaky, but are leaky all the same. Any permo solutions to this? Seems to be related to the gap in the rubber going around the window.
Anyone going to brooklands on the 5th may? Would be great if we could get a stand going or a convoy up.
