Hi guys,
I have Barchetta from 2001, M1 motor.
I read that the rev limit should be around 7150rpm, but I can't reach more than 4500 rpm. The car just brakes.
Anyone can explain why?

Thanks in advanced,
Michael

Hi,
thanks for your quick answer.
No, there is no warning lights. I named this topic "Engine cut off" but I meant that it is brakes. I don't understand why.
The last thing that was made with the engine is changing sparks and one of the spark-plugs.

Do you have any idea?

Regards,
Michael

Hi,
I think so. I didn't do it by myself.
Thhe thing is that i can go to the service who did it for me, but I don't like to go there and hear bla, bla, bla ...300€. I want to understand what is this problem before I will go there.

In some cars it can be a protection if it senses something wrong, but then it should show the engine warning light/MIL.

It might be worth disconnecting the mass air flowmeter (MAF) and seeing if it works any better. This can cause problems like yours.
