Hello!

Today I was trying to detach the original Grundig stereo in my '96 barchetta but things didn't turn out as planned :(

I read somewhere here that you could use four tooth picks and insert them into the holes and that would loosen the stereo. However when I tried this it didn't work and one tooth pick got stuck and broke in half, sigh...

So now I am stuck with a tooth pick that I can't get out of the hole and I could really use some advice now on what to do next :S

use some metal saté picks. Not verry smart of You to use wood

this reminded me when i broke my arm, it was itching like hell under the cast. so i took a branch and start to scratching inside. when i took out branch it was without leaves... :bang: :bang: common mistake.

I know it was really stupid of me, didn't expect that bugger to get stuck :/

I managed to loosen the right portion of the radio by inserting screws in the holes but the left side won't budge (I suppose there's still some wood stuck in it that I can't get out). Gah so frustrating!

Finally got it out. So just some advice for anyone attempting this, do not use tooth picks ;)

Yep it's a Pioneer. Still using the standard speakers, might upgrade them in the future but for now it'll have to do, at least I can enjoy music from USB/phone so no need for tape recording :)

front speaker upgrade is a huge difference. The original paper ones are real crap

Yeah they sound pretty crappy, might replace them this summer after all, why are you tempting me :p

I don't want to install additional amplifiers/filters or anything like that, just a simple replacement of the speaker (current headunit got 4x50 MOSFET).

Can you recommend any good? Most of the suggestions on this forum consist of outdated models. Would be good to know the dimensions you can work with too (6,5 inches should be alright, but what about depth?).
