Hello Forum
today I've noticed a fine crack about an inch long on the lower right hand side of the rear window. (right where it creases when it folds :( ) Has anybody got a quick fix for me? Hopefully to get me through the summer when I can use the hardtop.
Thanx STU

Hi Stu

If you have an origional zip in window it is possible to replace them by removing the metal clips at the bottom of the window and have a local trim shop make you a new one and use a zipper to re-install the new window (can be a bit of a pain in the ass to get the new one installed as I found out )

Only other thing I could think of to stop it getting any worse is drill a small hole at the end of the crack which should stop it getting any longer and put some clear tape over the crack from both inside and outside to stop water getting in.

Failing that you could send your car over to me... it's very unlikely that it will rain here again this year but I will have to use the hard top in August as it's too damn hot to drive with the roof down (n)

Thanx Desert rat about the idea about drilling, but on looking at the crack today it hasn't gone right through 'yet.' I googled and found something called 'liquid stitch' which has given me the idea of putting a line of flexible rubber glue over the crack to strengthen the plastic. By the way it is the 'original with zip' so it's doing *loody well :)
Any other ideas welcome STU

i've never seen the liquid stitch before. It will be interesting to know how it holds up. especially with the crack being on the fold. Let us know how you get on.(y)

It could come in usefull for other people who fold the top down in the winter

I have always used a length of that foam pipe insulation in the fold before putting the roof down as it stops the window creasing. Give it a try, should stop it getting any worse.

Thanx 'nixbarchetta' I have actually been stuffing one of those insulation pipes (sounds rude) into the window, more often than not with my arm clamped in as well :) I think its just losing its battle with UV light. I'm just being extra careful ;)

Can I suggest you just replace the rear window? I bought one on German ebay for 67.00 pounds and fitted it by myself in one hour. really easy. I doubt you will find a solution in a tube of liquid, it just isn't going to hold.
