Well I just got back from shopping for cream cakes for the office (its my birthday :) ). My friend Sue laughed at me for parking right at the back of the supermarket car park, then after we got back to work I reversed into a parallel parking space, we got out of the car, then a lady in an alfa romeo reversed into the space in front of me, and *crunch!* straight into my car! I had to shout at her to stop! Amazingly even though it made a really loud noise the bumper just seemed to pop back out again and looks fine on a brief inspection. I've taken her details just in case I find anything later - she was very embarrassed.

I'm quite amazed from the experiences you lot have had I thought the bumper was very weak.

Happy Birthday!:) Hope all is OK but good for you for taking the other driver's details just in case.

Happy birthday :) (I had mine two days ago - getting well old :()

If I were you I'd jack it up or something and check the under-/backside of the bumper just in case.

I'm going to see if I can have a look behind it when I get in from work. I nipped out and took her car details as well just in case she gave me a false name!

Happy birthday - sorry to hear the news.

Get Mike to get under the car and have a really good poke about, the bumper might appear to be OK but I would be very surprised if you have not cracked a retaining bracket - also make sure that the panels behind the bumper have not been damaged! I hope that all is well but you are better off finding out now and not in a couple of months time when you have the car serviced!

Gutted to hear you had a bump. I once had someone knock into the back of my Mini and I let them drive off because I couldn't see any damage. It wasn't till later that I realised they had creased a seam and dislodged my exhaust.

Have a very good look round, as LRB says there could be any number of things damaged behind the scenes. Do your lights still work?

Becuse your car is quite new the bumpers are probably still flexable, as the plastic gets older and more weathered they become slightly more brittle. Anyway did you have a good look Mechelle? what was the outcome....

Sorry it's belated but a very happy Birthday....

Thanks everyone!
We had a look last night and all looks fine, but I think from now on I'm going to stay in bed on my birthday! On the way home I took a different route to avoid road works and managed to find a stretch of road they are chipping. I've now got a nice little stone chip in my windscreen for my troubles!
Other things that have happened to me on my birthday recently include, missing a flight, speeding ticket, friends falling out the pub....
