General European tour!

General European tour!

Doing "les boucles" in April, when all the bikers just came out of hibernation and feel immortal again might be.... interesting

Just as an after thought, if you are passing Rheims and are looking for somewhere to stay, the Campanille at Rheims-sud-Murigny is fairly typical but has a good chef for evening meals and is close enough to get into the city centre in about 15 minutes if you fancy somthing to eat out. Plenty of restaurants, bars and Creperies. There's also a MacDonalds 100 yards from the hotel if you're desparate. When you are leaving if you head for Epernay there is a Champion supermarket for provisions and cut-price petrol.

Ok guys, we need to plan a European tour and we need to go HERE.

Would be a great photo with us all parked out front! Do you think they would let us stay for free??? :D

This is dangerous as I'll go into 'tour guide' mode!

Depends on your start and finish points, and how many miles you're happy to drive in a day, but Beaune is nice and about half way down. Might be too far to the East though? If you go there stay in the Hotel Mercure. Usually a good price, 5 min walk into town and very nice.

Limoge might be a better bet as also half way but further West. Not been there but have heard it's nice. If you're heading South West you HAVE to go over the Millau Bridge (A75 / E11). I'd also highly recommend Carcassonne once you get to the area :)

The alternative is to head down more along the coast, in which case La Rochelle is lovely.

I stayed at hotel Barchetta two years ago on my trip to Italy. only one B in the parking lot unfortunately. Good service and rooms.

I can highly recommend the Millau bridge and Carcassonne, also most of the coastal towns from Perpignan to Figures in Spain are (y)

Au revior mes amis. Je suis departing pour le grande tour avec mon B

She is all polished and packed (half a B boot for 10 days, I thought that was quite impressive for a girl!) so though I'd say farewell in case my Internet connection fails me! But just so you know where we are . . .

Tonight - ferry from Portsmouth to Caen
Friday night - Honfleur
Saturday night - Bruges
Sunday night - Brussels
Monday night - Aachen
Tuesday night - Nurburgring!
Wednesday night (assuming the IS a Wednesday!) - Turckheim
Thursday night - Annecy
Friday and Saturday - not decided yet - various places on the Loire between Annecy and Caen . . .

Enjoy your working week, fellow B owners!

Gxx

 sunday night in Brussels....
depending on the area it will look either like Marrakesh on a market day.. or like London in 28 days later.

Just received a text from Gill and Martin and looks like they are having fun!

They have 'done the ring' and survived, from what I can tell Gill managed 15 mins and Martin 13-ish (although there is apparently a video in existence of Gill nearly loosing the b )....

Quite a cool piccie and taster of more to come..........

Funny thing was I got the text while I was kicking the ball around in the park with my son, looked up and saw this sign, how apt!

Hi all, just a quick note to say Hello and thanks to LRB for adding the Nurburgring pic. Can't post any more pics as for some reason the upload tool won't work on my laptop, which is running Linux. Any ideas why that might be??

Anyway, were having a great time and the B has performed brilliantly so far. She loved the ring, and the country roads around it - and has been through everything from sun and top down  to torrential rain, and not a single leak. What a star!

Off to Lake Geneva and Annecy later today. Have fun at the Ace tonight!!

Hi all,

OK, 3,400km later and we're back! She behaved brilliantly, even through some pretty hideous driving conditions on occasion. But we still got the top down often enough to make us smile

Am adding the pics to the Flickr site I set up for the Notts meet and will post the link once they are up and ready, but in the meantime here's something we found in Normandy . . . a was a kind of 'big tank, little boat' moment
