I'm afraid they are a bit much even for me, even though at one point I had 2 15" 1500w subs in the seicento powered by 2 1600w amps, was loud:D, but thats right in your ear too.
Off we go again

urgh... could have been done better.

like:
  • the corners rounded off, to give a smoother line,
  • the subs moved lower and more behind the seat/back... after all "you do not have to hear subs, you have to feel them them"
  • the wiring sorted out properly, so you only have to plug in a few tulip plugs
But i can see that the idea on itself is not bad, its only this realisation which is a bit :yuck:

Inside is a little amp and two speakers.

Below is a few pics showing the amp that i pulled out and one of the 2p speakers that Fiat fitted into the speakerbox. What was Fiat thinking

As you can see from the last pic I have fitted two tweeters and mounted the crossovers on the outside of the box. This is an easy job thats a nice simple extra mod you can do at the same time.

Hi Doc,

Did you wire the subwoofer box as a Sub ? Or as rear speakers ?
I'm not to impressed with the sound of the standard LE Barchetta radio. With the hood up there is a bit of sound, but top down it's having some trouble producing base:cry:
Since it's in need of replacement I bought a new radio so my wife can hook up her i-pod.
Any tips to improve sound are welkom.

Hi m8 (y)
I fitted two mid 13cm speakers and two tweeters inside the sub box connected to my four channel amp in the boot. The 10" sub is running on a mono amp in the boot as well. None of my speakers now run off the head unit amp.

I am happy with what I have done, I would just like to up the quality of the speakers and amps at some point. I also need to build a boot amp box to make everything look pritty but thats on hold until the summer.

I can highly recommend the 10" sub placment that I did in my B. Its out the way and works so well.

Hi Doc,

Read your thread, nice to see what you did with your B. Searching the internet know for some front speakers and some speakers for the "box". I'll just hook them up as a set of rear speakers.
Like how you installed your Sub, but is not gonna work 4me. We have some bags installed against the backwall, and we need all the stowage space we can get. Maybe the spot next to the fueltank is also suitable for a closed sub wtih some small base-ports:idea:.
Anyway I'll be busy with the radio first next week. The original clarion is not willing to come out at the moment:(

Good luck Sunny Funny and dont forget to take some pics as you do you mods as well all enjoy mod pics.

I am on the look out for some bulkhead bags as I dont think it will be a problem for the 10" sub. If I ever get my hands on them I will let you know what impact it has on the sub. (y)

Hi,

Any recommendations for replacement speakers in the sub box. Ive got one with standard spaekers and it's in desperate need of an upgrade!

Hi Richkeoghuk (y)
Well thats down to how much money you want to spend. I have some £60 Kenwood speakers at the mo but am upgrading them to the set below.

You dont have to spend that much and could go for a set like this

Will you be getting an amp or using the head unit?

A good few B owners have Infinity speakers and you get good sound per Pound from them.

Yep, will take some pics, but have to find out how to include them, I think I already saw a thread about that.

Thinking about installing INFINITY KAPPA65.7cs in the front but have to check if they are the right size, 16,5X6,2 and tweeter 2,5

Hey Doc did you put any Dynamat or speaker foam in the Fiat subbox ?

Infinity reference 6010CS's are the way to go, I have not fitted a set yet (down to cashflow and 'nout else) but will put a set in later this year.

The speakers fit directly into the speaker housing but I believe there is a minor 'mod' needed to make the tweeters fit. Probably the best 'value' speaker set for the money before you start spending serious cash on sounds!!
