Need help....

recently bought what I am told is a 99 Barchetta. Was just looking at the identification plate under the bonnet today as I have just ordered a few spares and came away confused...

Looking at the identification plate reads:

E3 * 95/54*0005*00

1260KG
1710KG
1- 850KG
2- 700KG

motore/eng 183A1*000
version

also the engine number is

The car is fitted with ABS, Electric windows and central locking? was this available on the 1995 cars?

What i'm most worried about is looking at the first line... is this a 1995 car ?? and not as I have been told and as the pathetic registration cert says a 1999 car. I'm suspecting that the 1999 is the date it was first registered in Bahrain

-> this is the chassis serial number and by looking at it I think 99 is the oldest it might be.

Mine is build 12/96 and is 29xxx something I think. Keep in mind this is BUILD date, not 1st registration date.

Thanks alot BILL33! I've been looking for this list for a while. So my 01 B is actually a 98. Nice to know. :)

We have a tie!

I've just checked and it shows 04/1999

However it looks like the engine has been changed at some point.

Chassis Number - See picture

No, I made a mistake when cutting and pasting (the * was taken as a number) and it left out the last digit, so ePer saw the chassisnumber as 4195 and not 41959. So I agree with you now, it's from april 1999 and engine number is 412110.

Now I am really confused! I am just looking to buy a Barchetta here in Spain and am being provided with very little history on the car so started a search to see what I can uncover and came across this post - from 6 years ago.

The car I am looking at is a silver Barchetta supposedly from UK first reg Aug 2000 imported into Spain 12th June 2009 but is has the same identification number as yours - is this normal? I lloked at list below re dates and not sure what they refer to?

Please help someone

It is lovely but low kilometres for a 13 year old car 67,777 and had new hood/interior etc? Don't want to buy a problem!

Hi!

Engine codes starting with 183a are between 1995-1998/9
Engines codes with 186 are from 1999-2004

Then compare the last digits from the list above to get the exact month and year.

Example - motore/eng 183A1*000 23850 would be an Barchetta manufactured in August of 1996.

A similar code but with the 186 * 000 47300 would indicate a later car that was manufactured from January of 2000

Hope this helps.:)

some other notes to figure out what year:
pre 97-) windschield wiper without caps
pre 97-) steering wheel with moulded logo in airbag
pre 97-)only 2 resonators instaid of 3 (left one missing)
9:cool: pouch in right door cart
9:cool: bigger brakes
99-) engine with plastic manifold
2003-)3th brake light with no new bumper
2004-2005 new material on dashbord
late 2003-2004-2005-) new bumpers
2005-) added armrests

And so on. If I can walk around any barch I can estimated the year with about 2 year margian.
