Hi Steve. How hard was the gearbox mount to fit, and did you notice a difference after fitting it?

Hi mate

I got a garage to do it as you need a ramp really, but it didn't take them long. I went for the power flex black series one. This is too firm really. Took a long time to bed in. But you can feel a difference, less rock on the gearbox.

I'd go for the standard poly bush if I was going to do it again ??

Cheers

Well a decent update

On Friday I will be having the map redone to stage two. The guy reckons with my mods 200bhp may be a possibility.....we will see. I'm excited either way! ?

Also these little beauties arrived last week...

Corsa VXR injectors. Not sure if I can get them installed Thursday, don't want to do it this weekend as don't know what damage it'll do driving it all week before the remap... Massive over fuelling?? But the lad says I can always go back when I have them in and have the map changed again ??

So the countdown to Friday is on.

Have a good weekend

Thanks for that. I've had the yellow one arrive so I'll have a go fitting it. It doesn't 'look' too hard. Time will tell I guess. Don't like paying garages to do things I might be able to mess up, I mean do myself.

What an update that is. 200hp!! I had a 182 Clio before and that was quick, I don't feel the abarth is that much slower than it but with 200hp that would be awesome!! Maybe one day.....

Where did you pick up your polybush gearbox mount? looked on the polybush website but only says rear engine mount (which doesn't even fit our models if I understood it!)

Thanks,
Ed

Hi mate

Mine was the power flex bush, go for the standard one of you go power flex. I think they class it as a rear engine mount/ gearbox mount. Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi
Yeah as long as it fits (which I hope it does!!) that's the one I've bought. Hopefully get it fitted which should stop the light knock I get when letting off the throttle. :)

Yeah that's the right one, basically it fits into the voids in the mount that's already in has, so it firms it up

Well....

Had the remap today. I had my previous one done at RS tuning in Leeds, quite expensive but a good reputation. So I thought hey, why not.

I felt that they did not get all they could out the car with the mods I had and the at didn't seem to drive smooth, I took it back, to see if they could solve the issue. They did improve it a bit.

Anyway recently I have added a few upgrades, k&n intake and esseesse sensors on top of what I had. So I felt it needed to be mapped again, see what the car could do.

I did some research and found Paul at limitless remaps (they are on fb) I spoke to him and he seemed to know his stuff. He was offering remaps at £150 any car any time. I was dubious, but he explains all on his fb page.

He uses just a laptop and builds the map around the mods you have, no dyno like rs tuning.

Anyway today I took at to him, he read the car and got the original map to work on, start from scratch.

An hour or so later he was ready to upload my map. So I turned the key and instantly I felt the difference, the car was so much smoother and calmer in idle.

So to the car in the road....JESUS!

It's an animal! The power delivery is so much smoother now, the power just keeps on coming all the way through the revs!

Then there's the sport mode, this is insane, today with the slippery roads, put my foot down in 5th and wheelspin, in 5th!!!! Can't wait for a dry day.

Power and torque is incredible, I have my abarth as it should be, this is the end of the power mods for me, I will start on other areas now.

I will recommend Paul at limitless remaps to anyone in the West Yorkshire area, he's based near Halifax. Great guy and great knowledge.

Just as a comparison RS tuning managed to get 182bhp out of it. It feels so much quicker and torqueier now. So I need to get it on the dyno Asap for a power run. But I think it'll be very close to that magic 200bhp mark. I will assess reliability over the long term and keep you updated.

But as far as I'm concerned you can spend hundreds on a fancy dyno remap like I did. But I advise you to do research, look at reviews and have a good chat with the remapper first, and you will get the best outcome.

Anyway, have a good weekend chaps, I know I will ??
