Hi,
About one month ago, FIAT dealer update my engine software at ver.3 (as he told me). This is a 1.6 120hp Multijet Diesel engine. The engine now works much smoother and the car is much more refined , but the consumption increased about 15% at least. Before the avg consumption was about 6.7-6.9 ltr/100km and now it is about 7.9-8.1 ltr/100km!!!! which is extreme for a diesel engine and a car of that size and weight... Has anybody made that upgrade to the software (as they told me this upgrade is available since about Feb.2020) and if so, what was the result in consumption and engine operation?

Thanks

Oddly a "richer burn" as in more fuel delivery improves torque and overall performance with a good overall MPG. When mixture is leaned off then for you to get the same feel and performance you used to have requires a new throttle pedal control/operation.

It could be that the ECU update has changed the fuelling map for emissions purposes / and or to comply with the new mpg regulations and this has had a knock on effect.

I have imagined that the update is for the emissions; for a diesel engine if you want lower emissions you will have increased consumption, but the change in consumption in my case is too high. Now I see avg consumption of 8.4ltr/100km!
