They just don't last in the UK climate It's rare I see a set o.more then 2 years old without the laquer bubbling and peeling away

Normal wear and tear also contributes to the deterioration of the varnish layer, albeit more slowly. Tiny cracks from stone chips and whatnot may lead to bigger problems, especially if the wheels are heavily used during the wet/dirty seasons.
