Hi last couple of days it’s been quite cold around 5 to 8 deg in the morning but my display shows 22 to 23degrees! Ice alert normally comes on at 5 deg but not now. Anyone know where the outside sensor is located?

Booked car in for Fiat to sort. Reception tells me it’s the second 500x to have same issue.

The actual answer is that it's located at the bottom of the passenger side door mirror in a small black plastic capsule thingy

Yep I’d forgot.. I was looking at the drivers side and thought it might have been changed on the 500x ...

Update... Dealer said an update available for the aircon needed doing and sensor in mirror needs replacing. That’s a complete new mirror unit! Glad it’s under warranty. Getting replaced next week.

Dealer phoned and the mirror is still in Italy so another week to wait.[emoji35] Temp has got even hotter now 45 def!.. if only... IMG_2490.JPG

Update... had new mirror assembly fitted. Temp display now back to normal and so is the aircon. For those that are interested the outside temp sender has an effect on the aircon when set to auto. When the outside temp was showing 40 to 50 deg aircon on auto was really not working properly and unable to clear moisture from screen etc. Now sender fixed auto aircon works perfectly.[emoji106]

You are setting a trend.

Today my outside temperature sensor was reading 33degC, and yes it completely messes the AirCon up.

Grrrrr

Like I said before.... dealer said mine wasn’t the first.....[emoji15] could be a batch of iffy sensors?

Still think it’s crazy that the sensor is inside the left mirror and the complete unit needs replacing. On other cars they are normally behind the front grille , easy fix.

Pitty... i did my whole mirror on the stilo and i had to remove the tweater and door card.

The only reason the door card had to come off was to disconnect the wire going to the mirror... if your wire and connector is behind it (most likley is) then its a door card off jobby.

Dealer now ordering part.

Actually not quite a while wing mirror but most of one.

I'm just hoping that the unit can be changed from the outside of the car like on the base 500 and the inside door panel does not have to be de-trimmed.

Did they tell you how they replaced yours?

It looked like it was all done from the outside, the interior trim looked untouched.I had stuff in the door pocket that hadn’t been moved. They replaced the whole mirror but reused my red cover. The glass and indicator all looked brand new.

And so it came to pass.

Good news new mirror fitted under warranty and 52deg.C is now 7deg.C and the climate control is working as expected.

Not so good news is that on the 500X the connector (unlike on the 500) is buried inside the door and can not be accessed from the outside when the mirror is remove. This meant that the door card had to come off and sadly some of the (almost) "one shot" clips broke. Complete new set of clips now on order and I'll have to return so they can be fitted.

Perhaps you were unlucky, I still think mine was done from outside without taking trim off. Unless my dealer mechanic was very good and light handed.[emoji1]

Well I may be able to answer this for myself after my warranty has expired as if I get another failure I'll be doing myself. Meanwhile I have no reason to doubt my technician as I was booked in (actually squeezed in for other reasons) for a "while you wait" job and he was a little miffed that he had to take to door card off to get access to the connector.

The plus side is/are these:

1) I got a complementary valet

2) I get (hopefully) another one when the fit the replacement clips :)
