They are summer tyres (I gave up buying winter tyres when I resumed living at a normal altitude) but they allegedly perform well in the snow
 
I'm still going to go for Cross Climates as they can be worn all year around - despite the price. That said they seem to have disappeared from Black Circles currently?!

They've disappeared from my local dealer's website within the last 48 hours. No idea why
 
Yes that's what I noticed Alan - however Black Circles selling via ebay still have them listed - until you select a fitting centre.............. strange.

I think they have been discontinued. The ones on Ebay are old stock.
 
225/45 R18s are listed as available from Mytyres. The full range of CrossClimates is still listed on the Michelin website.
 
I normally avoid the "all-around" tires, but those CrossClimate ones look really interesting. I would give them a try, but, unfortunately, it seems they don't make my size, which is 225/50 R18.

Just got back from the dealer. Good as his word, £160 per corner fully fitted and disposal of old tyres. Early impressions are good, but only covered about 20 miles so far. Will be doing about 500 miles over next week. Will update after that

I got mine from Camskill at £145.45 per corner! But add £3.50 per tyre for delivery and then the cost of fitting balance & disposal @ £10 -£18 down here it works out the sameish!
Cheaper than Black circles! Local tyre company wanted charge £190 a tyre the other week!!
On frosty roads noticed a big difference and my mpg has improved! Seems to have softer ride!
Previous tyres were Michelin PS3! Tread was like a series of rubber bands, good in the dry not so good in the wet!!
Hope it snows this winter as wondering if they are as good as they say!!
 
My wife had them on her 2wd Suzuki S-Cross, and we were both driving around during the beast from the east in March. My 500X has summer tyres, and traction and braking were very poor, even with "all weather" mode selected. The Suzuki was in a different league, much better in all respects. No special driving modes to select either. Wear rate on the Michelins seemed very good too.

I am being told that after 10,000 miles my fronts need replacing soon and this car has been treated like an old grannies precious cat. Wife loves it, teen loves it, I sometimes love it although I prefer my Seicento that doesn't always work :)

My original Bridgestones only lasted about 15,000 but they do have a heavy old lump sitting on them. The replacement Kumhos still had meat on them after 20,000. The rears are seemingly indestructible. I wait to see how the Cross Climates work out but Michelin claim that they last longer.
 
Perhaps I should get them rotated if the rears don't wear much and replace the lot in a few years then?

A couple of problems with front to back rotation are:

1) Expense - all 4 tyres in on hit
2) Detection of tracking wear issues are not as easily identified when small or minor alignment issues are present.

Thinking aloud is there a definite NO-NO for mixing Cross Climate/All Weather (not same axle)? It is the front axle that does all the hard work or pulling, braking, cornering etc. so having the all weather tyre is ideally suited to the front axle in a front wheel drive car. 4x4 might be a bit stressful for the control systems in trying to balance two different capability tyres on the axles but apart from that I'm struggling to think of a major issue.

A dry performance limit I can think of is that with a dry grippy tyre on the rear will mean that when the car is pushed hard then all weather fronts will understeer. Conversely grippy fronts in wet conditions might give you better confidence only to be let down by the rears and the back end stepping out.

However for all good drivers who have a good feel and control then they should be well on top of the game, so to speak.

If you have AWD you should get the tyres rotated so they wear evenly, that's important to keep front and rear wear similar. Then replace all 4 tyres at the same time and with the same tyres so you can rotate them as a set
