Rev counter reading too high

I have something really odd going on with my Rev counter. It is reading about 2000 rpm too high. Resetting the instrument cluster by disconnecting the battery sets it back to normal, but going past 2000 rpm makes the fault come back. Any ideas what could be causing this?

The proxy alignment is out but Iím putting that down to an aftermarket stereo that has been fitted. It canít be reset on multiECUscan

Thank you

Re: Rev counter reading too high

Why not disconnect the tunes.
Perform the reset.. and check it behaves

Do let us know where the error lies
