Hi, I have recently bought a 500 second hand, the radio was sitting in place but not doing much, so I took it out and discovered that not all was plugged in correctly at the back, and clearly the old owner had put a new radio in but shoved the old one back in before selling it - but the wiring plugs now no longer fit the original radio. Can anyone advise me on what I need to get to make the original radio to work? Are there adaptors or do I have to re-wire the whole thing with the correct connectors - and any advice on where I can get the correct connectors or adapter? Thanks

I think that’s exactly it, I now have a collection of four wire harnesses wired up that only partially match the input on the radio. 4 harness plugs 2 of which fit, and 2 that don’t

It’s 2008 and I am trying to refit the original fiat radio- I have no idea what was in there before

Tried yanking with no result! This is the wiring they have left - Assuming my picture uploads work. I can plug in the power, 2 other sers of leads with one just hanging and all I get is the message “CANCHECK” whatever that means

For starters you need to cut off the newly added plug(lowest one in the pic) and 're connect the wires to the original plug where it's obvious they previously went, the plug second from top is the speakers the left one with cut cables is the power top slot on radio speakers middle and other original must be the lower slot on the radio.can check may mean the can bus connection is faulty or it cannot talk even when connected?

Ok - done that- still get nothing but the cancheck message. What are those extra wires for though?!

The can check sounds like the can bus cannot talk, this is the data connection to the car that allows the dash to display the radio station for example.
Ignore the arrow you can see the two can bus connections in this pic which are the two thinner wires on your top plug, you may need proxi alignment to clear the message or not. The largest connector has the cables connected to the "booster" output

Thanks - but I don’t know what “proxi alignment “ means.

Essentially you hook the car up to a computer(laptop) with the right software and get the various car ecu's to talk together, like ABS body computer engine ecu climate control Bluetooth etc, as they can become confused and don't talk to one another, alignment fixes this, if it's the problem.
