Hi guys, I’m struggling to get my knee airbag to sit correctly and unsure what force I can use,. It’s been like this since I bought the abarth 500 3mths ago and I’m taking it for granted that all 500’s have these.. please see image and advice

Thanks Steve

The top of the airbag attaches to a couple of metal hooks and is hex bolted at the bottom. You would need to unbolt it at the bottom if it has come adrift at the top. Remove the little stowage on the right as the lip showing at the top of the airbag should sit behind it.
Looks as though it’s been pushed out of the upper hooks.

Hooks as circled which locate into plastic slots on the airbag assembly, hook into it from below

After stripping my dash to fit a alarm, I decided to give the air bag another refit as my last attempt lasted a day, this time I completely removed the air bag to find the cross panel of the dash had been ducked taped, I remove the duck tape to find it slaughtered maybe with a solder iron, purposes unknown.. seriously hacked it in half with heat... I’m so confused why..

I’ve drilled a few holes and stitch it tight with decent zip ties,. Looks awful but it’s hidden buy the air bag. That now sits how it should

There is normally a formed piece of dense grey polystyrene presumably for sound deadening or to stop a rattle behind it. That piece of plastic is quite thin at the bottom. My guess is it has had a new ignition switch and someone has damaged it cutting the shear bolts.
