Hi.

Been the occasional thread about similar.

How many miles on it.?

What is oil consumption like??

Charlie

56K never had oil issues. Had the twin air unit checked in a fiat specialists and they said it was ok. Such an annoying issue i keep paying £££ but problem still there. It does have a slight fuel smell at first start i noticed.

Hello and welcome to the forum .

The TA engine is extremely sensitive to using exactly the correct specification of oil, and the specification changed around the time your car was made. A Fiat dealer could double check that the correct oil was used against the specific engine number of your car.

This may sound pedantic but there's a sound technical reason for this; read more about it in this thread.

There have been other posts from folks who've had problems when cars have been serviced by garages who just put in whatever they'd got in their bulk oil stock; some of them even franchised dealers.

Ok..
Thats good news

Some have real oil comsumption issues.. good to know that isnt a factor.

Has any garage actually had it overnight for a cold start diagnosis session?

Checking sensor feedback.
Fuel and air temps specifically.

These motors 'meter' the fuel and air in an unusual way..so any errors will really be problematic.

Where are you based?

Who has done the regular servicing??

yes all correct oil filters plugs etc... just to point out the car runs fantastic after 200 yards never ran better, smooth Quick fuel consumption good.
I just disconected the lambda sensor was a pain to get to need baby hands, anyway first start disconected and it sat around 1200 rpm and didnt go from 1200 to 600 as normal.
Think ill leave it disonected for a few days see how it goes ill be pissed if its that cus they said they checked it.
Now the Header Is leaking FFS.

Both official FIAT dealers I visited with my Euro 6 TA use 5W-40 even though 0W-30 is specified for it. Apparently 0W30 is only specified because it results in lower official CO2 figures, which means lower taxes in several European countries, but both dealers say 5W-40 is better for the engine.

That advice is in direct conflict with the advice given in the technical documentation provided by the company that designed the uniair system.

I guess at the end of the day, it's down to who you choose to believe.

If two official FIAT dealers that are not related in any way, so true competitors, independently of each other tell the same unbelievable story, then they clearly got instructions.

So it seems to me that there is a legal truth and a technical truth, but of course in publications FIAT will always suggest there is only one truth: the legal one.

replaced the header tank and the leak is all fixed so back on tho the rough start.
It only runs lumpy for a few hundred yards then its fine. The Mechanic used selina cus he had to order it not sure of the grade ill find out.

He said it was 0W-30 Is this correct .
Does it need a multiscan oil dispersion correction?
Just noticed first post error.... the car is June 2013
