I think I am soon going to cry.

I cannot seem to find the source of this noise, nor could the mechanic who said it was the timing belt. So I had the timing belt, water pump and tensioner changed but the noise still persisted. I mentioned this to the mechanic but they just said I had sensitive hearing.

Extremely upset.. thoughts?

Yes indeed. The AUX belt is removed in the video. The noise seems to be situated around the crankshaft pulley itself.

The tensioner, water pump and belt were replaced.

Could it be normal noise?
Is the noise the same with clutch pedal depressed?

Just drive car and don't worry about it. If it's a real problem eventually the cause will become clearer.

Sounds like it's the pulley to me.

Most cars these days have dampered pulleys.
The pulley is made in two halves, bonded together with rubber, it's meant to smooth out the torque put through the pulley, but they usually end up rattling and wobbling about.

When they start to wear owners notice the belt and tensioner twanging about first.

They don't usually get the chance to fail completely as most owners get them replaced before they do due to the ratchet they make.

Ford had a really issue with it's 2.0 Duratorq in the Mondeo/Xtype.
Used to hammer away really loadly, so they released a bigger, beefier pulley to shut it up.

Try removing the pulley and running it up again, if the noise goes away, you have your problem already off the car!

I cannot run the engine without this pulley as the crankshaft sensor uses it. The engine won't fire otherwise.

I'm not even sure if it's the pulley. The noise is concentrated there but when I use a stethoscope I can't seem to pinpoint it.

The rubber on the pulley seems good and strong as well. No movement. The aux belt has been removed in the video and yet the noise still persists. It makes the noise at around 1500 rpm religiously. Anytime the engine goes past 1500 whether decelerating or accelerating it will always make that noise. It has begun to do it at idle as you can hear in the video.

Sounds like pulley to me .
Change it and see or just use car till cause becomes obvious.

D'oh!
Yeah of course, modern car!

Is there any untoward noises from the other end of the crank?
Say around the bell housing?
If you have a stethoscope, might be worth a listen out for the flywheel.

I presume they are dual mass and if it's wonky it can cause the pulley on the other end to twang and rattle about.
