Sorry but black is terrible for dirt
:yeahthat:
and it'll show every scratch & swirl, too.
I've only ever bought one black car. Never again. It looked fantastic when new (it also had a cream leather interior), but took half my life to keep it looking even halfway decent and when I sold it ten years later, the paintwork looked tatty despite my best efforts (and the leather wasn't much better). It also got scorching hot inside in summer.
I've found the most practical colour from a maintenance and general 'living with it' perspective to be solid white. Boring but hugely functional; also probably best for depreciation as you haven't paid extra for it in the first place.
Special fiishes like matt & pearly paints look great in the showroom but one incident and you'll either have a mismatched panel or you'll have to respray the car - they're (almost) impossible to match.
And a word of warning - Fiat's solid red colours tend to chip very easily.
But buying a new car is special and you deserve to have the colour you most like. Just close your eyes and imagine which one you'll feel best about when you're admiring it looking shiny on your drive.
Secondhand, it's a different story and paint should be way down on your list of priorities; finding a good car at a sensible price is hard enough without making things more difficult by worrying about the colour (though I'd still shy away from the really hard to maintain ones).
