Hi everyone

Just seeing what the better colour choice would be for a 500 lounge?

1. Glam coral
2. Passion red

Similer but yet so different.
I wanted to know what people would choose and what would be better for resale ect

Yes I picked red too.
But fiat are certainly pushing the Coral colour on all the YouTube reviews
And 2016 promo videos.

What about black? It's gender neutral, hides dirt and blemishes and looks well when it's clean.

Sorry but black is terrible for dirt and black wheels (in my opinion ) are just a no, looking like scruffy silver ones or stolen trims (at a distance )
Though I admit is Good if perfectly clean.

:yeahthat:

and it'll show every scratch & swirl, too.

I've only ever bought one black car. Never again. It looked fantastic when new (it also had a cream leather interior), but took half my life to keep it looking even halfway decent and when I sold it ten years later, the paintwork looked tatty despite my best efforts (and the leather wasn't much better). It also got scorching hot inside in summer.

I've found the most practical colour from a maintenance and general 'living with it' perspective to be solid white. Boring but hugely functional; also probably best for depreciation as you haven't paid extra for it in the first place.

Special fiishes like matt & pearly paints look great in the showroom but one incident and you'll either have a mismatched panel or you'll have to respray the car - they're (almost) impossible to match.

And a word of warning - Fiat's solid red colours tend to chip very easily.

But buying a new car is special and you deserve to have the colour you most like. Just close your eyes and imagine which one you'll feel best about when you're admiring it looking shiny on your drive.

Secondhand, it's a different story and paint should be way down on your list of priorities; finding a good car at a sensible price is hard enough without making things more difficult by worrying about the colour (though I'd still shy away from the really hard to maintain ones).

Wouldn't know about the gender part but I do love black. Not that I'd necessarily have chosen black; when I bought my Lounge cabrio I had a stark choice; any colour I wanted with a Dualogic or black with a manual, so naturally I chose the black.

Yes, it does show the dirt and needs regular cleaning to keep looking its best, but its best is stunning - especially with plenty of chrome.

However the question posed is a choice between Red and Coral. The Coral is attractive and very different but I think it will date, like the tans and lime greens so popular in the 70's (for those who remember back that far!). I'll take the red, but keep it out of the sun; it invariably fades!

Finally, the interior of my black 500 doesn't get any hotter than the interior of my wife's white one - just don't lean on a black car in the Australian sun!!

I park my car in the sun :( I got no choice. But I only keep my cars for 3 - 4 years max before I move them on. So I don't mind having a red car. I had a choice of Coral, Red or Yellow to choose from.
1. I had yellow once before - so that ruled that out
2. If my car is going to fade over time.. the coral may turn an unfavourable colour.
3. The red seemed a better choice - it's a new red.. so it's not as blood red as the past passadoble reds I have seen on fiats. This one is called
Passion Red.

So it will be interesting to see what happens over time :)

I'm not a fan of black wheels either.

I've owned red, green, silver and blue cars and my current black 500 looks no dirtier when dirty. It's dirty. When clean it definitely looks better. My neighbour has a red type R and is abit of a car snob. (He's seems to change his car every 6months to a year). He always comments on how well my car looks when it's clean to the point where I think I've converted him. He is also a spray painter for wright bus by profession and has stated to me that given the choice he would by a black car for the same reasons I gave.

Each to their own of course.

I prefer coral. It is unusual. Red cars are everywhere. If you only keep it for 3 years colour fade should not come into consideration. Go with your instinct, never mind what we all say;)

Fade may be more of an issue there in Australia but my wife said Oh I like that colour(coral) when we saw it in the dealers last year.

Mines red, got it last March, love the colour, looks stunning. I don't think it chips any easier than any other of the other pastel colours, I think it shows up more because of the white base colour. I've also a dark blue one which has a dark base coat and stone chips don't really show at all.
