Hi There
Was wondering if someone may be able to help. I bought an 08 plate 500 (lounge 1.2 petrol) a couple of weeks back. (I love it should really have got involved sooner !!!)

I've noticed that the when I fill the tank up that I get the "click" at the pump but when i drive off i get about a mile down the road and the petrol gauge has already dropped a notch ... (the range also seems MILES out but i'm not losing any sleep over that :) !!)

Was wondering if this is a common problem with the car or whether or not I'm missing something...

One other thing as well, the car seems ever so slightly jumpy in first and second gear when it's a bit cold.... anyone else experience anything similar ??

Many thanks for any help you can give...

chris

Don't think digital fuel gauges are particularly accurate and your miles left if based on your MPG. Might be an idea to reset that, could also try the old disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes (as long as you have your radio code).

Do you stop filling petrol as soon as it clicks and stops, or do you keep going reducing the flow. The click maybe not actually filling the tank. When I put £20 in mine from almost empty it goes up to the 3/4 mark, I'm sure it's not really 3/4s full.

Hey.... Costs about 28 quid to fill mine up to the brim... i did stop at the first click, maybe i should have kept going... i'm going to keep an eye on the petrol and mpg over the next couple of weeks ... ive just come from a smart car so obviously it's horses for courses :)

thanks for the quick reply .. if it doesnt improve ill look at disconnect the battery

Jumpy when cold could be worn spark plugs ?

Excellent idea, but the radio code won't be a problem as it's stored in the electronics of the car. You will only have to reset the date and time display.

I've disconnected our battery many times when trying to sort out the stop-start, and recently fixed the flashing odometer problem by disconnection/reconnection too.

Regards,
Mick.
